  Cercano al NEC y con buenos servicios e instalaciones

  La próximidad al recinto ferial NEC y su buena situación nos permitió estar de la feria en 3 minutos de taxi. La comida en el restaurante anexo al hotel muy buena, la cerveza y la terraza excelente para tomar un aperitivo o cafe.

  Hotel correcto. Lo mejor: wi-fi gratis

  El hotel está bastante nuevo, y las habitaciones están bien. No son demasiado lujosas pero suficiente. El aire acondicionado hace bastante ruido. Está a una media hora en taxi del centro de Birmingham, más lo que tarde en llegar el taxi (no menos de 15-20 minutos). Lo mejor es que tienen wi-fi gratis. No hay plancha en las habitaciones, pero tienen una cafetera. El buffet está bien, aunque no es de los más completos que he visto. Concretamente eché de menos algo más de charcutería, porque las únicas lonchas que había eran de queso. Lo que más me gustó del buffet fue el yogur natural a granel.

  Excelente relación calidad-precio

  Cuando llegamos a la habitación nos quedamos sorprendidos, ya que para nada nos esperabamos una habitación tan buena para el precio que pagamos. Nos esperabamos algo más sencillo pero para nada. La habitación cuenta con climatizador, increíble aislamiento, wifi gratis. El desayuno de bastante calidad y variado (incluído en el precio). Tuve un problema con un chocolate caliente, me quemé la mano y todo el personal estuvo más que atento, me proporcionaron una atención exquisita. Si buscas algo a las afueras de Birmingham, sin duda lo recomendamos.

  Yes again let down by the car park system

  We love this hotel in terms of location, comfort etc. It does as it says on the tin and works well as we have relatives in the area. This visit sadly was as the result of a sudden bereavement and we had intended to use the hotel as our base in the coming months as we make regular returns, covid restrictions willing. Yet again (has happened TWICE before) we received a fine from Parking Eye this morning. It is totally unacceptable that despite giving the car number to the member of staff on check in (we were proactive in doing this we were not asked for it but noting there were no machines to enter it we asked), they failed to enter the registration in the system. Later that evening, having been out of the hotel we rechecked did we need to enter the number again (with the same member of staff) and were told no. On calling the hotel to complain about the charge I was told they are busy and get distracted sometimes..... totally unacceptable response. Even if they were distracted why did they not think when we asked the second time "oh I need to put that number in". When challenging them the next excuse was oh sometimes we put the wrong number in. OK I now have confirmation of the charge being cancelled (wonder how many more will appear as we were in and out a lot in our stay) and a small credit of IHG points. As a Spire Elite, I try and stay loyal to this chain but the attitude of the staff when the issue was raised was not what I would expect and the fact it is a recurring issue in this hotel should be a warning to others - avoid if you can. Life is stressful enough for us just now without careless mistakes like this - its not as if the staff were busy if you ignore their social chatting with each other. Not sure we will return, there are several others in the area who may deserve our custom far more. I regret completing the IHG survey as I gave them 5* sorry it is now 3* at best,

  Ideal

  I had to stay in the Birmingham area for work and having just downloaded the IHG app I searched for a holiday inn. Oldbury was about a mile from my next job so was an ideal location. The hotel is clean, the staff are very friendly and informative and social distancing is being adhered to. I had my evening meal which was very good and also had breakfast which again was good, I liked the takeaway option of prepacked bacon or sausage baps for people on the go. Really good experience, would definitely stay again
