  Ok not great

  This is an old hotel, could definitely use some updating. The carpet in the common areas were dirty, room flooring was vinyl. Best feature is the rooftop lounge/restaurant. Fantastic view. There was a loud, obnoxious drunk person in the lounge talking at max volume on earbuds. We had to ask the bartender twice to quiet him down, and finally my husband got up and told him to stop the filthy language. Other than that, it was ok. Great view of the harbor

  Not User Friendly!

  I am in town on business every week and was looking for a new place to make a regular place for me to stay. The appearance of this place stands out a bit, and I was interested. The experience however changed my mind on returning. I stood at the window for 10-15 minutes waiting on someone to come check me in. They had a sign up saying the front desk clerk had stepped away and will return shortly. I believe I got the smallest, most awkward room in the hotel. My river view was a direct view of the nearby Waffle House and woods across from it. No river could be seen from that room at all! The balcony was not accessible and had been permanently closed. The restaurant had only a few items on the menu, and the hours had changed, and I never got a chance to eat there. I mentioned to the front desk clerk of my displeasure of everything, but she didnt seem too concerned about it. I doubt Ill return to this place.

  Ask and you shall receive!

  Sitting high above Charleston is this 15 story Holiday Inn conveniently located just outside the citys congestion. Having traveled to the City before the location was appealing and all looked good online. Submitting my reservation I added a note requesting a high location to maximize the view, nothing to lose. My wish was maximized by Carolyn at the front desk as our room was on the top lodging floor (#14) and Im not sure anyone else was on floor. Never had this VIP service before! The rooms view overshadowed any room details but these are noteworthy: 1. The bed was a luxurious king pillow top bed with several comfortable pillows to choose from. 2. The bath had thick luxury type towels not usually found in mid range hotels. 3. The room had all the usual amenities in a minimal design decor. On future trips to Charleston, we will look no further than 301 Savannah Highway!

  Excellent stay

  My husband and I stayed here while spending a long weekend exploring Charleston. We had no complaints and will definitely be back again! The staff were friendly, the rooms were cute and clean, the beds were SO comfy, the views were nice. The restaurant on the top floor was surprisingly delicious! The decor in the hallway was nice. The location was great. 10 minutes to downtown and 25 minutes to Folly Beach. The only annoyance was that there were a couple of very large potholes in the parking lot. We hit one of them pretty hard when we drove in at night. Other than that, we were completely satisfied and will likely use this hotel every time we visit Charleston.

  Friendly

  We stayed at this hotel for a few nights. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds. I was not a fan of the pillows; they had a soft and hard one and neither seemed to work for me but other than that it was nice. We were on the top floor with no view except a Waffle House. The restaurant was right above us and at times it was VERY noisy but it quieted down around 11 ish enough for me to sleep. Mackenzie was at the desk when we checked in. She was awesome; friendly and also recommended some things.
