  Good place to stay for skiing

  Stayed 3 nights over Christmas with my family. This is the first time for us to go skiing in China and we were positively surprised both by changbaishan ski center and by the hotel. Everything worked out very smoothly. We had three wonderful days in a nice hotel with comfortable rooms. Ski rental arrangements were very practical and quite good value for money together with hotel room. Skopes very well prepared. A few small minus: too hot in hotel rooms (could not reduce heat). Also it would be nice is hotel breakfast had a little more western selection like cheese or jam. But in all a very positive experience!

  International hotel far from a city

  Modern, international hotel, situated near the Changbaishan mountain. Some English speaking staff. Comfortable, clean with all amenities expected by western tourists. Modern room and bathroom, comfortable bed.

  Less impressed every year

  Truthfully I was never that impressed to begin with and theyre certainly not doing anything to correct that so maybe next visit will find us at the Hyatt across the street instead 1st the checkin debacle takes FOREVER. They have issues with their other services providers. Namely the HannahShan Hot Spring nearby, access to which is supposed to be free of charge but in order to sort out the paper work you as the customer are supposed to traipse back and forth across the lobby to get this or that paper signed and stamped. And thats not the end of it because later when you actually go to the Hot Spring you have to do more of it. Talk about a major hassle. Customer service at its worst The room itself is nice enough if a little bit bare. We had a two bedroom suite that we shared with another couple. The main problem with the rooms are as such: The curtains in the bigger of the two bedrooms where we slept cannot be closed all the way. There is a gap at the top that ends up leaving a lot of space for like to come in and wake you up before youre ready to be woken up. There is a shower stall in the smaller bathroom which is good but the bigger bedroom is left with the bathtub with the shower head. And this is really annoying when you want to take a shower and you have to climb into a bathtub and then its so close inside (and Im not a big guy) you cannot take a shower without always rubbing up against the shower curtain. Poor painting job. Room was painted very sloppily in many places its just ugly to look at how they painted the walls. Major peeve >> Heating Like so many hotels in China the climate controls are basically only there for decoration. You as a customer have very little to no control over the temperature of your room. We got to the room and like so often happens it was roasting hot. So we selected a lower temp on the thermostat and wouldnt you know it instead of going down the temp continued upwards. In the end after trying many things we managed to just shut it off completely and open the windows to cool things down to a livable temp. This is such a waste. So many hotels in China do the same thing, a disgusting waste of energy. And theyve the nerve to say they are being green by encouraging people to reuse their towels. Lastly, Breakfast is served in only one of the three towers and if you have a room In either of the other ones you can look forward to a nice freezing cold walk during winter to get your breakfast in the morning. Its less than pleasant to have to bundle up to brave the -25° temperature and walk quite a distance to have your morning meal in an over crowded noisy restaurant. Anyway, weve been here many times before but now theres more choices of hotels so...

  Ideal for Family

  The hotel is within the Changbaishan Wanda Ski Resort. This is the only one that provides with family style suites. Our suite is equipped with a large living room in the middle, two bedrooms on each side, and a balcony in each bedroom. It is big enough for 4 people staying together comfortably. There are plenty local restaurants downstairs, and the ski rental center and the hot spring facility is only few minutes away by walking. However, the front desk service needs improvement. The lady forgot to give me the room keys after I checked in. In addition, you need to take a 3 minutes shuttle bus to breakfast, because the hotel restaurants are in another Holiday Inn building. Overall, we had a great time there.

  Great winter getaway!

  We had a wonderful time. The apartments are centrally located and in the price skiiing, daily access to a waterpark and a one time entrance to the hot springs were included. The airport is only 20 minutes away.
