Beautiful placeWe stayed at this hotel over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Now as for the hotel itself it is a beautiful place, the staff are all lovely and can't do enough for you and all the food from breakfast, the meal at night to the cream tea were all amazing, and we found it very relaxing with lovely gardens. Now for the room! A huge letdown. We stayed in the Bridal suite and if I was to spend my wedding evening there it would put me off booking my wedding! very poor, shabby unappealing awful decor and bathroom in great need of a total refurbishment. We also had no slippers and no water in the room to drink which is poor for a 4 star hotel. Also very stingy with the toiletries tiny shampoo no conditioner or body lotion which is normally provided. These things need attention, especially when the room cost £292 for 1 night.

Lovely Weekend GetawayWe stayed at Holdsworth House for one night in an executive suite with dinner, bed & breakfast included. In this uncertain times they were very Covid aware with all things thought off and hand sanitiser available all over the hotel. Great value for money, food was delicious and staff very helpful & polite. We will definitely be back

Mixed FeelingsI picked this hotel because the photos of this gorgeous Jacobean Manor looked stunning. We stayed for one night in September and the building is beautiful, it felt very safe with all the Covid regulations in place. I booked an executive suite and the bed was very comfortable but the room was chilly and featureless in a newish block. We sat in the bar area before dinner and only one other couple were present, no atmosphere at all. We were ushered upstairs to a small room with 4 tables set for couples, the room was again cold and lacking any atmosphere or nice decor, the menu was very limited, sometimes it felt like our room had been forgotten about. The following morning we had breakfast in a beautiful room downstairs, full of interesting features and architecture, I wish we could have eaten there the previous night. Overall I felt very disappointed by the experience, such a shame.

The BEST afternoon tea!I never ever write reviews but now more than ever I think if a hotel or restaurant is doing something really brilliant then we need to shout about it! So here I am, shouting about the most delicious afternoon with my family bubble! Being Half Term it's been really hard to try and find fun and interesting things to do with the kids. We decided to pack up the car and do a bit of a 3 day road trip heading north. We also knew that if we did overnights in nice hotels, then we were still keeping to all the confusing rules. Our middle night was spent at Holdsworth House and it was just the best decision. We had an adjoining twin room for the kids (ages 6 and 8) and we had a split level suite which was such a treat and so well presented. We arrived in the afternoon as we'd promised the boys afternoon tea, they'd never had the proper thing before and having seen all the pictures I had a feeling it would be good. Well we weren't disappointed, it was DELICIOUS from the sandwiches to the scones to the cakes and the little pots of pumpkin mousse. I even had a glass of Prosecco to wash it all down with, it doesn't really get much better than that. After tea we wandered around the gorgeous grounds and took in some fresh Yorkshire air and then a lie down (and tv) before a wonderful dinner in the restaurant in front of the roaring open fire. The boys were determined not to miss breakfast and I'm so pleased we didn't. Pastries, juice, coffee and boiled eggs with soldiers was just what we needed to send us on our way. It was the loveliest stay and we felt safe and well looked after and the boys are all desperate to go back for more apple juice and cakes and to see Eric the hotel cat....who they wanted to bring home! I've probably written too much for my first review but there was lots to say! Thank you Holdsworth House and so pleased you're able to keep welcoming guests and giving us all a much needed escape from these strange times.

High TeaA last minute booking, aided by an incredibly helpful receptionist. High tea was lovely, and a real boost during a difficult family time. Thank you for your helpful service, with lovely food prepared at the last minute for us by the chef, including your freshly made scones - we all left feeling cheered up.
