It's hard to be fully objective when management and staff are so friendly

This hotel is an absolute jewel. It's the former mansion of an aristocratic family turned into a small hotel with a lot of old world charm. Most of all, I would venture to say that all rooms are slightly different in size and decoration. For this reason it may behoove you to inquire about the type of room first before you make a decision. There are rooms with alcoves that are especially attractive. The bathrooms are rather small and may need upgrading at some point in the not too distant future. Why the hotel was skimping on toiletries like shower gel and shampoo is something we did not quite understand, knowing that everything else was done with so much attention to detail. The village of Bever is beautiful. There are no crowds and not much traffic to speak of. By car it's an easy 15 or so minutes drive to St. Moritz. You can also take the train. We found the location to be perfect for staying in a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the other more well known villages or towns like St. Moritz, Celerina or Pontresina.

    Summer tradition

For the past few years we've traditionally come to Hotel Chesa Salis at the beginning of summer to unwind from a stressful time at our own business back home. This was our first visit since the change of management. All in all, we still find this hotel and its restaurant a fantastic place and we will definitely keep coming back. The chef and his team do an excellent job and we had three wonderful dinners which were included in our half-board plan. Reception and service staff might need some extra training in order to match the high level of the cuisine. The rooms are still the same: simple, cosy, with a good mixture of antiques and more modern pieces of furniture. The highlight of our stay is always the huge garden and the peace and quietness that it offers.

    Ideal for summer relaxation getaway

What a beautiful area of the alps and excellent hotel to spend several days away with my daughter. Bever itself is a very quiet, tradition small village with typical Swiss architecture, with narrow streets to wander through. The hotel staff were so helpful with advise on where to go and what to see. They provided a free pass for the mountain railways and cable cars. You are spoilt for choice for cycle ways and walk tracks. It was easy to get about without a car, the bus and train station both only 10mins walk from the hotel and always ran to time. The evening dining experience at the hotel was excellent with wonderful food, service and ambiance. Breakfast offered a good choice and always well stocked. The hotel's Friday lunch time BBQ in the garden was delicious and attracted outside visitors, creating a lovely atmosphere. There are also several eating out options in Bever, a short walk from the hotel which we enjoyed. The room we had was a good size with very comfortable beds and had lovely views over the gardens and mountains. The garden is nicely laid out with sun chairs and shades if you just wanted to relax in the sun. The hotel is clearly quite self sufficient growing its own herbs and vegetables that are served fresh in the restaurant. We will definitely be back :)

    The real historic hotel

Spending some night in comfortable quiet hotel to relax and enjoy with excellent for friendly personnel and good food, you are in the heart of the Engadin, At a few steps from the hotel you can start hiking, cross country skiing and local public transport will bring you to any location for skiing, apes-ski walking. Being a historical place you may experience it in any of the rooms arranged with love and passion.
