Perfect stay at charming HiogisoI spent a delightful weekend at Hiogiso in September as a stopover between Kyoto as Tokyo. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, by far the best thing about Hiogiso is the staff, some of which speak good English, and all of whom make you feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble, from picking you up from the train station, to making sure you've had enough to eat and drink, and that you understand the protocol for using the bath house. Do visit the shrines at Ise, then take the train down to Hiogiso and spend a day or two exploring the islands and relaxing. Be sure to get there in time for the sunset boat cruise. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the AC and wifi works well. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The communal areas are smart and the Japanese style bath house is charming, and like the rooms, spotlessly clean. This is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend. The new Aman resort is next door, where you will pay a lot more to look at the same views and I imagine not receive nearly as warm a welcome as you do at Hiogiso!

WonderfulWonderful place, wonderful innkeepers, wonderful view, wonderful food. Nothing more to say: best I've made of my entire trip in Japan. All is made of wood (Japanese cypress); nice onsen with both inside and outside hot spring bath.

An authentic Japanese Roykan for reach quite state of mindI have spent 2 nights in Hiogiso on May 2017, and I'm still can't forget the experience of that trip. The Roykan is luxuries located in a private harbour, which is just opposite the island Kashikojima, a location is convenient enough to explore the natural attractions of Shima islands, a free shuttle can be offered to the closest train station. Hiogiso has an outstanding onsen, which has part of outdoor part can enjoy the quiet scenery of Shima Bay. Mr. Watanabe is being very nice and helpful for giving advice for our trip, and offered us a free ride to the beautiful observatory together with the mascot of the hotel Mado when we departed.

Serene view of inner bay and good bath.Serene super great view of inner bay called Agowan, large cypress bath (off course, there is an outdoor bathtub :D) , fresh local sea food, clean room, mascot Japanese dog, silent location, that was great Japanese style hotel. Warabi-an room has 2 rooms, 10-tatami-mat room and 2 beds room. The view of forest from the deck outside is spectacular. Also enable to park bicycles in here. My recommendation activity in here is fishing from a pier. Hotel restaurant cook from the fish you caught.

Excellent, must tryWe have been in Japan often and This is the best half board onsen hotel we Ever had. Location near supermarket, outdoor onsen view was great, especially in the morning. Food was excellent, we stayed for 2 nights had different types of JAPANESE food, the second day was BBQ. Too much food with good quality. There is massage chair in the onsen lobby which you can use after hot springs which was thoughtful. One disadvantage which I have to say will be there are around 3 mins road to the hotel which is very narrow, need to drive carefully. Otherwise its the best hotel and good value for money.
