Mejor resort q he estado nunca, una maravilla. La habitación, la piscina, la playa...No os vayáis sin probar el SPA y haceros algún masaje, 3 horas en pareja pasando por diferentes espacios. No es barato pero vale la pena.

Oceanview room on the 6th floor- run down room

The overall stay was okay. The room needed serious work. Walls chipped on the sides, and the toilet door looked very unhygienic. The breakfast buffet was horrible. Staffs at the breakfast restaurant were friendly and nice.

Avoid, very un-Hilton like, do not stay here

I never thought I would be writing a review such as this for a Hilton. Let alone a signature Hilton that claims to be a 5 star resort. Before I get into this terrible stay, let me call out some on staff that deserve credit. One of the few bright spots is breakfast, where Sophie has been great in making sure that salt and pepper lands on our table, and is quick to clear plates and seems to be smiling under her mask and was ready to help us if needed. She was wonderful. . Also so has Alina. Zoey gets an honorable mention too. Catherine who seems to be the manager of the Big Kitchen has also been very attentive and helpful. The one day she wasnt there it certainly seemed the kitchen didnt run as smoothly. My wife and I live and work in China for the past 4 years so this isnt some kind of cultural or language concern, but has to do directly with lying to a customer, which is the primary cause for concern, but then not helping to correct this lie in any meaningful way. My wife and I have been in pandemic mode for the past year and havent left our lo-risk city in a years time and decided when we had time off in the Winter we were going to have an early 25th Wedding Anniversary in Sanya which we have heard to much about. Specifically how its the Hawaii of China. As a loyal Hiltons Honor member I first book our stay in Xian and then 11 nights in Sanya. Before doing so I called and asked specifically and directly about the spa amenities. They offered a sauna, hotter and steam room and I was told they were all operational. This was of great importance to us. They assured me all three were working. As I could cancel this reservation up until the day of arrival I called 3 times to make sure that they were working. Each time I was assured they were working. When I arrived, not one was working. No hot tub, no sauna, no steam room, not on the mens side or on the woman side. When I asked about it at the spa I was told, they dont work. This much I knew but from the looks of them they havent been working in some time. On the womans side the sauna has its stones spilled out over the floor and its container on its side. In the spa itself, which had a few hot tubs they were also not working. And clearly not for some time. The spa was clearly not interested in helping me. Hilton Sanya had already lied to me, multiple times. With an 10 day stay, I was going to be spending $3000+ USD on a 25th Wedding Anniversary that wont have much cause for celebration when some crucial factors for our stay are not in working order. I called Hilton Corporate, through the HHonors number and spoke with a representative and she was wonderful in her attention and listening. She asked me to hold and said she would call the property and ask. After some time she returned and stated that the language barrier is severe, but she got to speak with someone with decent English and she was assured that all amenities in the spa and all services were in working order. What?!? Now, not only did Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay Spa and Resort lie to me, they lied directly to corporate Hilton. Seriously, this is the kind of hotel I am staying at, that they lied to their own corporate office about having some working facilities, when they clearly werent, and easily checked. When I went to the front desk I was told to wait, and eventually was asked to go to my room and they wanted to check a few things. A manager visited me shortly after, admitting that it was true, nothing was in working order in the spa in regards to the sauna, hot tub and steam room. He was sorry. This was too late to help me. My Silver Wedding Anniversary was just thrown under the bus. When we arrived it was also cold in Sanya so the importance of these amenities also grew because of that and we are being told, Sorry we lied. Do you want to move to the other side of the building? Right now you are on the dark side? No, we didnt want to move rooms. For one we had unpacked. For two, the light side was noisy at night, and we had a great view. To offset the $3000+ USD we spent he offered us a high tea service! That is rather insulting honestly. I told him I would think vouchers or a steep discount makes sense, and he said he couldnt do that, but instead offered us a lunch at their fancy restaurant. It seemed all he was offering. So we did say we would take that lunch. He also said that the sauna would be open on the mens side from noon until 7 pm each day, but nothing else. (Turns out it wasn't) Hilton had written me a follow up email that I replied too. The following day we did have a very nice Peking Duck meal. It was a solid meal. It was on the house, but we still had to pay for the two beers we had. (?!!?) Two incredibly marked up beers. An email I received from Hilton stated that they were in touch with the hotel and I found that the hotel already contacted you and solved the problems. No, no they hadnt solved the problem, they had still lied to me, the lied to corporate Hilton about the amenities and they then lied and said the problem was solved. At that moment I am wondering why Hilton Corporate is taking the word of Hilton Sanya Spa and Resort that has already lied to them once. My wife response to me was that my brand loyalty bite me in the backside and it did. And its still not straightened out. I am here on day 7 of my stay and the sauna hasnt been open for the first 5 days. It was on yesterday finally and today I go down, and they seem surprised that it should be on. They asked me to call 1 hour in advanced please. As if this isnt an amenity that is suppose to be available for all to use. Twice past 1 pm our room still hasnt been cleaned. We had to call to get it cleaned. Today after we sent in a request for room service, we went out to give them time. We arrive back at 3:19, and they room has the maid in it. At times dirty glasses were left behind. I left out a torn open package of English Breakfast Tea so I could get new tea bags. Tea bags werent replaced and the torn open package remained in place. One of first day there I was in the room changing for the pool and a card was slipped underneath my door. It stated that since my Do Not Disturb sign was on that they didnt clean the room. The thing was, the DND sign was NOT on! I immediately looked at the sign, and it was NOT on. This was a lie, and to what end? I was able to grab the maid right there, and she shrugged and was rolling her eyes but she cleaned it. We had two fo the worse martinis and margaritas we ever had. The martini, I thought was because he was using a sweet vermouth instead of a dry vermouth and asked him to try again. Again terrible. Later, as I was thinking about it I believe he was using equal parts of gin and vermouth! YUCK! Its not difficult to find out how to mix a drink. If you offer it the bartender should be able to make it. I have a collage in the bathroom that has parts of it falling off. I have a sink that has a crack in it but its not replaced. They used white caulk on dark wood, which shows a complete lack of understanding about design. Bear in mind this is suppose to be a 5 star property. I have started my review now so that I can make sure I dont miss anything, but as a whole, its been a joyless 25th Wedding Anniversary primarily because Hilton Sanya has no moral compass. They lied to me, instead of calling the spa and asking if everything was working. They lied to their parent company as well. If I had known that these amenities werent working I would not have stayed here. They know they risk people not wanting to stay, so they lie. Then the feel a Peking Duck dinner solves it. It doesnt. This has been terribly frustrating and never would I expect this from Hilton and let alone a property such as this., but it gets worse. The other day the Lulu Bar out in the pool area went from playing You Are My Sunshine to heavy thumping club music, and then it segued into music that started off with a whole lot of profanity being dropped. This is noon or so, at a family resort, and I am no prude, but there is no purpose or reason for families with little kids to hear the profanity laced wording being used repeated blaring out of the poolside bar speakers. After it started I recorded it which will be sent to Hilton Corporate and then we left the pool area. Who in their right mind thinks this is ok? Oh, yeah, the hotel that lies. The language barrier has been a frustration. The concierge literally looks at the floor if she sees us. Bear in mind I had asked her one questions about bike rentals. Off she went to have someone else help, and afterwards its clear she is avoiding us. Alan stepped in and was very helpful saying they no longer rented bikes but he could help with scooter rentals if I wished. He checked in with me more than once about any needs we might have. We are adapt at using translation apps and if someone wants to communicate it takes a little more time and a little more effort but skirting around people when your job is to help them is ridiculous. You can use spoken word, or type it into the app. We are 4 years on in China, some basic words, but we communicate all the time here, but Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay was not going to help us in anyway if it could be avoided. The redeeming value is that its a beautiful space. The pool is very nice, but the people, for the most part are not helpful and are stand offish. They don't want to help, and they will actively avoid you if they can. Other than the 4 exceptions noted the staff was prepared to work a no name motel off some dark highway. Dont stay here. There are many other options. I am saddened and hurt that my beloved Hilton owns this property and has treated us so shabbily. Hilton Corporate did treat us decently. They offered a compensation that was agreeable, but this should have come from the property. The property shouldn't' be lying to customers, and if they lie they should make it right. When I went back over reviews, most of the complaints area bout how terrible the staff is. This is no secret to Hilton Yalong Bay Spa and Resort because they the send a form letter thanking them for staying and saying they will work on the complaints. They haven't and they don't. So don't expect this property to chance. Stay elsewhere, even if you are a HHonors member. You will be treated better and have more value for your money. Thank you Hilton Corporate for reaching out and working with me. It was those interactions that helped soften this blow. So if you want to have brand loyalty and join a rewards program that will listen, HHonors seems to be it!
