    Retreat in Okinawa

This hotel is located just next to American Village where you can find dozens of nice shops and restaurants. Hotel itself is equipped with large two outside pool, one is for children and one for adult and one inside pool with a hot sauna. We used taxi from and to Naha airport, and I could reserve it at fixed rate of less than $40. Hotel also seems to offer free shatle to the airport. On the second day we rent a car, and drove to Chura-umi aquarium, which is regarded as one of the best in the world, It was a nice 1 hour drive. The breakfast include Western, Chinese, Korean and Japanese foods, and of course traditional Okinawa cuisines. We dod not have any trouble to find something new to us for the three breakfasts. Hotel is just built 2014 and everything is clean and beautiful. We used to go to Hawaii big island, and then switched to Guam because of the vicinity from Japan, and now changed to Chatan Okinawa for our summer routine destination. So far I returned there five times and they provided something new to be excited each time.

    Excellent facilities and service!

Im hoping that much of this review well reflect a point in time view of things at this amazing hotel. But things that dont change are the amazing view of the coastline that youre greeted with as you enter the lobby. Ok, one of the outdoor pools and the indoor pool are closed until July but this is well announced on the website so no issues here. Similarly the breakfast is no longer served in buffet style but plated up. But even here you have a choice of an American breakfast, pancake breakfast or Japanese breakfast. The service and good were both great. If youre staying on the executive floor youll notice that the lounge remains open for non-alcoholic beverages but the usual appetisers are served in the lobby lounge instead. I was very impressed with this arrangement as the platter selection was well thought out. What I will say though is that there are some rather good paid for burger sliders for ¥1600 which are exceptional. Just melt in the mouth. As the service gets back to normal Im anticipating that things will just get better and better here if not a fair bit busier. Hats off to the team here for making this stay really relaxing and memorable for the right reasons. - also perfect location for the American Village and if you head there dont forget to try out Zhivagos for a coffee. Enjoy!

Please take "Resort" out of the name.

Came here instead of leaving the country - which we can't do in the pandemic - and going to Southeast Asia. In other words, we'd hope to "escape Japan" for a while without leaving the country. Happy we came here - but four nights was enough. POSTIVES: Location is great, especially if you are walkers like us, there is lots of stuff nearby (though the searing early August heat of Okinawa knocked us back on our feet a bit.) Room was fantastic - very clean, comfortable, top quality comforts and service. We loved the bathroom. Hotel staff were responsive and highly competent, most appeared to be bilingual. The hotel really filled all our room requests, which we really appreciated. We loved our balcony, narrow though it was. Unromantically, like other places in Japan, most seem only to use it for laundry. We were able to sit out and look at the ocean at dusk and dawn, which was the best part of our short vacation. Not so great: The room service was nothing special. Actually we didn't order, because we didn't want to, not for the prices and selection. "Escape from Japan" was not on the menu and the western items were few and not so well priced, Usually I wouldn't mention it, but in a pandemic and with reduced restaurant service, you would think it would be a good idea to put more energy and choice on the menu. In the hotel's defense, I never brought it up as there were plentiful places to do take away nearby, and most of the other customers are probably quite happy. NEGATIVES. This is not a "resort" in my mind. Some mention there is no real beach nearby, certainly not on the "resort", but the pool situation is what makes me give 3 stars. Ostensibly there are 4 outdoor pools (I have no interest in indoor pools - not very "resorty"). The two at the Double Tree that are usually available for share were closed to us, but apparently being used at all hours by what we inferred were US military families. That left us with 2 fairly small pools for this huge (500+ rooms) resort. As if that was not enough of a challenge, two more problems made the experience worse and stressful: 1. Though one pool is clearly made to be a children's pool, children of any age are also allowed at the other pool. That means anyone without children and not wishing to be surrounded by screaming, splashing, often unsupervised children are fresh out of luck. I've been to resorts filled with children, but there is always enough space and distance for each type of traveller to find their own. Not here. If you think you've found a relatively peaceful moment at the pool, it is likely to be broken at any moment by running, screaming kids. 2. What resort limits their guests - at already crowded pools - to only 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM? The pools got really crowded at about 5:00 PM when we were there. Makes sense due to the heat and unbearable sun in the day, right? There's nothing more relaxing that a dip in the pool a bit before sunset. Instead, like most other places in Japan, I guess, they follow this joyless schedule where you have to always think about the time - like I'm catching a train. NOT a resort! Perhaps I am spoiled by Thailand where guests can relax until 8 or 9 in most pools. But, hey, Mom, I've been a really good boy today, can't I get an extra hour?? To make it worse, the second night we stayed, the pool attendant brought out the cleaning equipment at 5:15. Then the ropes came out at 5:30. Not relaxing, definitely not 5 star. That attendant should ATTEND and do nothing to make customers feel rushed until a few minutes before six. I am not optimistic that much will change here - most Japanese travelers going to places like this seem to be families with 2 or 3 kids, so I guess that's where the market is. It's just that I hoped for a little more from Hilton. Oh, another point too is that we had to always call for extra water,... don't you think at a five star hotel, that after one or two nights of staying there, they would remember to give you that water?? Attention to details? Also cos it got annoying to always call housekeeping and them never picking up the phone! And finally, upon checkout, no one asked any questions about how our stay was. But then again, based on the lack of responses to English TA reviews, they don't seem to care that much. At least not as much as a five star hotel should.

    Great trip and stay

Had a great time staying at this place. We got there as things were opening up after shut down due to COVID. Staff was so friendly and we got spoiled with the hospitality. Rained couple of days during the stay but did not have any issues as the stay was enjoyable. Location was great as it was close to American Village - plenty of food options and good quality restaurants

    Not really worth money.

My main complaints: 1.) breakfast is expensive and the same every day and also not very many options and dont have trays unless you ask. Ive stayed at business hotels in Japan for $50 that have far exceeded the Hiltons breakfast 2.) no onsen which is pretty standard in Japan 3.) elevator is annoying because you have to always pull out your key even if someone else is in there with you, its a silly security thing. 4.) called the front desk probably 7-8 times for various things and no one answered, used every option on the telephone. Positives: Great location and view. Room size is big and bath tub is nice. Hotel is beautiful in every way. Great pool indoor and outdoor
