Room with a ViewMy friend and I stayed here overnight and I reserved a room on the river side When I verified with the front-desk clerk that it was indeed the river side she said it was, but moved us to one with a better view; our previous selection had an A/C unit in front of it. We enjoyed watching people out in their boats on the river. Masks are required in the lobby but we noticed that related groups off in isolated areas were not wearing them. The desk clerk, however, did politely ask a group who came in without them, "Does anyone need a face mask?" It turned out that they were not required by local government but they ARE required by Hilton. The room was typical size and comfortable, with a good blackout curtain and well-soundproofed against the occasional loud motorboat. It had both a microwave and a mini-fridge as well as a Keurig coffeemaker. Breakfast was free because of my Gold status- ordinarily $9.95/person. Contrary to what it says on the menu, there is no buffet and it's table service only. Given the variety and the quality I'd say it's worth the $9.95 price, unlike some overpriced hotel breakfasts. The complex includes a large event facility with a restaurant ("Crave"), and room service is available. Good gym- one of everything, relatively new and in good working order. You have to sign up in advance and only one person at a time is allowed in. The pool is average. One minor complaint- the gym could use better air circulation. I'm a Lady of a Certain Age and stagnant air when I'm exercising triggers hot flashes and sweats. Minor price to pay for staying fit! There's also a nice path along the river if you're into running. An enjoyable stay.

Very nice staffAfter arriving late in the evening, the front desk staff was very helpful in offering suggestions for what to eat. The room was very comfortable and I was surprised at how easy this hotel was to get to and to get back on the highway the next morning. Was a little disappointed that we had to pay for breakfast as that was not the case at any other hotel on this two week trip.

Great hotel, average restaurantSpent two nights at this property on a first-time visit to Sioux Falls. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and comfy beds. The attached restaurant, Crave, had a nice ambience with an outside patio area; however, the service was poor and the value for the food was too expensive. Cross the pedestrian bridge and check out of of the many good dining options on Phillips Ave about four blocks away.

No membership benefits, early check-out time enforcedThe stay was OK. We did enjoy the clean and somewhat modern rooms, as well as the services provided - internet, breakfast, etc. The staff was professional as well. We did run into a major problem though. We are a flight crew and were supposed to depart late at night out of Sioux City. We are all Hilton Honors Diamond members and according to the Hilton Honors promise, we can benefit of late check-out times. Yet, at this hotel we were met with resistance. We were told that check-out time is 11 am for everyone regardless of status or membership benefits. After pleading with the front desk, they did budge to let us stay till 1 pm without charge. The reason given was the extremely busy - high occupancy rate of the hotel. Yet, Thursday night when we arrived, we counted about 4 cars in the parking lot and Friday afternoon, even fewer. Given the distance from town, I do not believe that people can reach the hotel without some kind of transportation. In these times, flight crews, truckers, traveling personnel, are the people that keep the hotel's door open. For an empty hotel not to try to help the people that keep them in business, is not quite the right thing. The reasoning we were given is that the hotel can not lose revenue with 2 rooms that are not cleaned for the night (if we stay longer). We did not see a rush of customers and with events and weddings being cancelled, I do not believe the hotel to be overbooked in these dire times. As a matter of fact, the cars in the parking lot were employee cars and I would go the extra mile to say, there was almost no-one in the hotel besides us.

Clean, but there are problemsFirst, this hotel does what it can to disinfect, and it shows. It is spotless! We had a river facing King room. The room was clean, it was obvious the housekeeping staff takes pride in their work. The front desk staff is friendly and responsive. I primarily interacted with them during our stay, and they always came through. However, there are two problems right now, and one of them will be noticed in a year when the pandemic is on the run.. 1. The bathtub is chintzy. We liked the size of the bathroom. But the tub was cheap and actually sagged under my feet. Marriott has shifted to showers and I recommend the same here. 2. BIG - If you are an Iowan, disregard the following; you think you know better than epidemiologists and wouldnt listen anyway. The people in this state do not wear masks regularly indoors. Furthermore, masks are NOT enforced at this hotel in enclosed spaces like the lobby and breakfast area. There is a policy, the surfaces are sanitized, and the staff wears masks, but that is just about it. There is tighter enforcement at the Walmart and Menards in this town. (Seriously, even HyVee doesnt enforce it, droplets and aerosols are all over the place - it is revolting) The night we arrived, There was a group of 20 people in the lobby, 2 in masks. The next morning, 15 people in the lobby, one in a mask. This morning, half the people in the lobby in masks, the most I have seen yet. People on the elevator with us with no mask. That the hotel has a mask policy, but guests ignore it tells me the staff doesnt feel like their managers will back them if they enforce mask requirements. I come from a major US city where we just wear them, there is no pushback. To see public safety flaunted is a disgrace, to not back your team to enforce simple public health needs is a management failure, and tells me they dont put a premium on the health of their own team. If the management team here doesnt empower its staff why have the mask policy?
