  Good overnight stay

  We booked this last minute while traveling through and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The lobby, property and room were clean and inviting. Plus, the pool was open, which was great for the 8-year-old who had been cooped up in the car all day! Two downsides - the water temperature for the shower didn't get hotter than lukewarm and there were no luggage carts available (apparently they allow people to keep them in their rooms).

  There's no where else to stay in Hickory, NC

  I have business in north central North Carolina and the closest "city" is Hickory. I've stayed in several other hotels but I have stopped looking for the best. It's easily the Hilton Garden Inn. The desk stay is attentive and intelligent, not something that is found in hospitality much anymore. The convenience of grabbing a meal after work without leaving the hotel is a great option. Same with the in-house bar. The facility is clean and attractive. The housekeeping service, which you can get everyday if you want (unlike many other hotels who now give you only service every 3-4 days) is consistently thorough. I have only good things to say about this hotel.

  Filthy!

  We stayed here for one night. I spent 30 - 40 minutes cleaning and disinfecting the room before I felt comfortable enough to stay the night. The room was dusty and dirty. It didn't appear that the high touch areas had been given a thorough cleaning. I traveled with antibacterial cleaner, Clorox wipes, latex gloves, paper towel, Lysol disinfectant spray and antibacterial hand washing soap. I'm glad that I came prepared. The bed sheets and duvet cover were dingy. I didn't sleep with the duvet on my bed because it didn't look like it had been washed since the last time that someone stayed in this room. The fridge and microwave were dirty and required a good cleaning before I could use them. We didn't use the coffeemaker because it was dirty as well. I wouldn't stay here if you're concerned about cleanliness and your safety while traveling during the pandemic. This location does not live up to its Clean Stay policy.

  Great Hotel, Location and Bar

  WE went to the Hickory, NC for a show at the convention center. The Hotel is within walking distance of the center and vey easy to find. They have ample parking and have a number of restaurants around the property. The Bar was outstanding with indoor seating, bar, seating and a fire pit outside. The bartender was very good and friendly and the restaurant had a good menu and was affordable for a hotel. We checked in very quickly and had a room on the 6th floor. The staff was attentive and very professional. The hotel was very clean. We will stay there again.

  NO HOT WATER

  We are Hilton brand loyalist but made a bad mistake staying here. The staff at first were easy to work with when there was no problems. After finding out when it was time to take a shower, NO Hot water. Called down and was told to run the water in the sink for five minutes and the water would get hot. It never got hot only slightly warm. While checking out the assistant manager offered a full refund of a rewards night stay and put it in writing. I emailed Hotels.com the written refund offer but when Hotels.com called the assistant manger that was named in the refund request he would not honor it. I was very surprised when Hotels.com contacted me with the bad news. After thirty years with Hilton I have never had a problem with the brand until now. If you like taking a hot show this is not the place to stay.
