  My family had to make an emergency trip and passed thru Gulfport for the night. We checked in and was told that the hotel is going above and beyond to ensure the facility was sanitized during the COVID pandemic...Great words for my ears After settling in I went to make a cup of coffee and found the microwave full of slimy water from the last guests attempt to make Mac and cheese....disgusting slimy water had dripped all over the coffee service and there was a bonus of a wad of hard noddles right on the coffee tray. Extra sanitizing? Wow. They clearly didnt wipe down anything. Fortunately we had our trusted Clorox wipes on hand and after taking the gross microwave tray and coffee service tray to the front desk and leaving it there expecting it would be replaced.. We shall see if a cleaner version is returned. We also found the fridge hadnt been wiped down and still had red syrupy rings on the bottom. Sadly the person working the desk simply commented that they would let the manager know.

  Mostly a disappointment

  Stayed here for 5 nights this past week, Wednesday-Sunday. On the first day, while walking barefooted in our room, my daughter stepped on a hoop earring that had been left from a previous guest. Although it was a small wound, it did prevent her from being able to enjoy the beach because of fear of bacterial infection. The staff did give us a few wipes to clean it with, but at no time did they ask if she was ok or follow up with us. Pool is not monitored. I watched a car pull up and multiple passengers get out and enter the pool area. Room was decent, but the sink took forever to drain. On Sunday morning, front desk agent was attired in sweat pants, which isnt the normal attire for Hilton.

  Fabulous!

  This hotel was one of the best we have ever stayed in. Clean, Clean, Clean! The room was large and nice. The staff was wonderful. They are still doing the pick up and go breakfast because of Covid but it was great. We were able to choose our meal from menu. Coffee, microwave and fridge in room. We got a King Suite and it was huge! Two bathrooms and very large and nice. Wonderful stay. Very close to the beach

  My First Bad Review - COVID times

  In the 10 years since I joined TA I have tried to steer clear of messing with peoples livelihoods. I am a seasoned business traveler who has been on the road for 40 years. During that time, Hilton has bought up many old hotels and re-branded them as Doubletree, Hilton Garden, Tru etc. However re-branding does not accomplish bringing tired, old properties up to normal Hilton quality. My wife is an Honors member, so will choose Hilton on occasion. We tried calling ahead from the road on our way to Gulfport. The reservation system had us on hold for 10 minutes, we hung up. My wife found an alternate phone number, so we tried that. Same system, same hold time. We were about to call it a nite, when they finally answered. It was one of those systems run from another country. After the reservation was made we were solicited to join some credit card company, blah, blah, blah, no thanx. Our request to be placed in the quiet side of the hotel was ignored. Being as we are in Covid-19 times and it was during the week, there were only about 8-10 cars in the lot when we checked in at 8 pm. The hotel has five floors and we made our way to our room on the second floor. About an hour later two other people were holding court outside our room before loudly slamming their doors on either side of us! The place is almost empty, but they are placing the guests together on the same floor, next to one another!?! The walls are thin so we were treated to hearing one of them snore while we were trying to sleep. The snoring was drowned out when the air conditioner kicked on though. It was so loud, it was as if a 1985 Dodge Ram pickup was running in our room. The pillows were mush. They were non-supportive individually, but too high when two were stacked. I usually disconnect any clocks in the room as many are invariably are left on with early wake up times in many hotels, either by unwitting guests or mean spirited maids. But this contraption had a large thick cord that looked like it might be locked into some sort of main computer system that might affect other services, such as the TV. Naturally, it went off at 6AM! Not only that, but after I got mine shut off, I could hear a concerto of the same alarm sounds coming from the adjoining rooms, all set for 6AM! These old, rebranded toilets will probably survive, but they wont be getting anymore of my business.

  My go-to place to stay!

  I stay here anytime Im in Gulfport! I love this hotel and the staff is fantastic. Clean rooms and wonderful service. Reliable and convenient place to stay. I highly recommend this HGI for anytime you are in Gulfport.
