Excellent Resort at the Feet of Cang ShanMy family stayed at the Hilton Dali for 2 nights during April 2019 and this was an outstanding resort style hotel. The Hilton is located at the feet of the Cang Shan mountain and within a reasonably close distance to the gondola. It offers complimentary shuttle bus to the Dali Ancient Town or the Tian Long Ba Bu village, which you can also visit via the larger gondola on the way down from Cang Shan mountain. The resort is huge and structures are very solid looking. We stayed in one of the excellent Erhai Suites on the top level, with large living and bedrooms, and a spacious balcony that has a good view of Erhai, from a distance. It's the same view as the balcony from the Executive Lounge. As a diamond member, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and snacks from the spacious lounge. The lounge is not very big, but the super high ceilings and enormous balcony created more space for all the guests. Special thanks to Ruby Zhou for calling me (international to Australia) to confirm my reservation, room upgrades and providing all the details relevant to our stay. The Hilton is a top choice hotel for Dali.

Not So Happy HourEnough has been said about this property and it's true that this is a fantastic hotel with an excellent location and beautiful rooms. The pool has had a little upgrade and there is now a little brewery a few minutes walk down the hill. We stayed here once before and the thing that really made our stay special was lounge access. It's just a great place to hang out (since there is not much around the property) and has an excellent view of the lake. When we checked in this time, we were informed that the lounge was closed and had been since March. Since I had booked just two days before and paid more for the lounge, I was not a happy camper. This was amplified when their attempt to right this by delivering high tea and happy hour was a single plate of cold, random items delivered several hours late each evening and without any beverages. After at least a dozen calls and conversations at the front desk, they did bring us a bottle of cheap wine and four beers (which also arrived late). Though we loved Dali (Three Pagodas, Cableway, a bite at the Blue Gecko) and think this hotel is great, the whole lounge thing really had an impact on our stay this time. First world problem, yes. Deal breaker, probably not. Just make sure the lounge is well and truly open before you go or skip it all together.

Great All-Inclusive Family Vacation HotelWe recently stayed at the Dali Hilton for the 4th time since they opened 5 years ago and each visit is better than the previous one. This time, our family just needed some R&R and the Dali Hilton was the perfect place. We only left the hotel once in 7 days and never got bored. We swam in the warm (!) indoor pool and alternated with one of the several hot tubs next to the pool. We played card games, pool and tabletop shuffle board in their Game Room (but we ran out of time for their mini-golf course!). The workouts in their nicely equipped gym also helped us feel less guilty about our eating habits during the week! We especially liked the Hilton's Executive Lounge where our family could avoid the big crowds downstairs and enjoy a quiet, relaxing atmosphere for all 3 meals every day. For only a little more money, we find this option to be much more affordable then eating out or even ordering in every day. After a big breakfast, afternoon tea at 2:30 was perfect with fresh fruit, sandwiches, soup and drinks. Then the Happy Hour every day from 6-8pm had it's own buffet which was plenty for our hungry teens! The free drinks, including alcohol, gave it an extra special feel to our family time. All of the employees were extra friendly and extremely helpful, especially the Front Desk Manager Edward who helped us book, welcomed us at check in, checked in on us every couple of days to see if we needed anything, and made us feel like honored guests. Blair in the Executive Lounge learned by our 3rd day what we liked and would bring it to us without us asking! Vito and Candy in the Spices restaurant also took wonderful care of us. Overall, we were able to relax and feel well-cared during our stay. We really look forward to our next and 5th visit to our "vacation home away from home!"

Highly recommended for a wonderful view, good service and comfortable roomWe stayed 6 nights at the Hilton. First highlight was the view from the lobby/terrace towards Erhai Lake and the hills beyond, so relaxing. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice balcony overlooking hotel garden and lake - make sure to ask for 7th floor (8 and 9 are Executive levels). Buffet and Chinese restaurant both good and reasonably priced. We received attentive service from managers and concierge, including about local sights/trips. Hotel had clearly taken COVID seriously. We didn't sample pool or spa but can imagine they are up to Hilton standard. Worth walking down the hill to sample German inspired micro-brewery. Nearby is Western (inc fish and chips) eatery - miserable service but fast, cheap and tasty! Hotel is conveniently located for one of Cangshan cable cars, Dali Old Town (hotel shuttle) and Three Pagoda complex. Make sure to do an Erhai boat trip and visit Shuanglang village
