  Avoid like plague!

  It's 2:30 AM and I haven't slept a bit: extremely loud music from the street keeps me awake. You cannot switch off the main light, you have to remove the card cutting off all electricity, so you cannot charge your phone, camera, etc overnight. No hot water. Had to shower in cold water. It took 50 minutes to prepare a simple hamburger in the restaurant! I was overcharged in the shop, my friend didn't get the right change. Utter rubbish

  great place, fantastic staff

  All the staff are very helpful , extremely friendly ,always smiling . the place is clean , confortable. I really liked it there . Kampala is very busy but the hotel was quiet and secure, good place to relax .

  Please read my review before booking if you want a REAL and RELIABLE review

  I spent 3 nights at this hotel while on a tour, We arrived late at 1am the first night and even though I had an email confirmation from Anderson, the receptionist could not find my reservation. Once in our room (204) we were kept awake until about 3am by the music blasting from the adjacent nightclub. When I complained to the receptionist she seemed very surprised and told me that she would advised her supervisor. The room was very spacious and kind of clean. We had a choice of cold water or boiling water and the urine/sewer smell was unbearable. Breakfast was served in our room very quickly and was excellent and copious. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs, food was good. We wanted to order brownies and coconut ice cream from the menu but were told that these items were not available. We came back from the tour 4 days later, tried to order the same brownies and ice cream and they were still out of it. We were in room 209, noticed that the Ac was not working and called for help. Someone came, checked the remote control and left. Two hours later, we were still without any news about the Ac, I asked to meet the manager who came and offered to change our room but it was too late and we were already unpacked and settled for the night. We spent another sleepless night as it was extremely hot and we could not open the window because of the loud music playing outside and the construction noise which started at 5am. The Tv was not working and the staff seemed surprised about it even though two big holes were in the wall where the cable outlet should have been. The hotel itself has no elevator and very slippery stairs. The location is horrible as you cannot walk to town, the neighborhood is poor and the only place to shop is a supermarket 8 minutes away.

  Adequate and Cleanish

  Overall my stay at the Hillside was fine, I stayed here while on a work trip. The room I was put it came with a good mosquito net, a small fridge and TV. The cleanliness was very average, there were some stains on the sheets and the bathroom towels were questionably wether or not they had been changed. For the most part - good wifi coverage throughout. Hot water in room 205 did not exists and would recommend avoiding that room as its smaller than the others as well. The service was very good and breakfast is included. It was perfectly adequate for what it was.

  Good

  It was a hotel that my Ugandas tour began. The rooms are good! The hotel placement does not make difference, once you do not go away alone! The hotel does not sell alcohol, but you can buy beer and take to your room at the other side of the street! They have a good restaurant and a small convenience shop. The staff is very nice and helpfull! No elevators!
