Served a PurposeOnly stayed one night as enroute south. The owners were extremely helpful and cant fault the welcome. However while Hillside property is situated in a lovely spot with a lovely garden it is not my idea of typical English B&B with do it yourself breakfast in the same room you are sleeping in. The shower area was tiny and as a tall person tricky to use. My main angst were the beds, very low to the ground and the mattress I slept on very soft and uncomfortable. BUT It served a purpose and the Yew tree pub next door was great for an evening meal and offered good parking which is limited at the B&B.

Very disappointingThis was the sixth and last B & B we stayed in during our 2-week tour of the West Country. Unfortunately, it did not end our trip well. On the plus side, it had a very nice garden, but it was too cool to sit outside and enjoy it. The linens were clean and the beds were relatively comfortable. And the pub next door, The Yew Tree Inn, was terrific. It also provided plenty of parking. On the other hand, the room was so tiny that we couldnt open our suitcases unless we put them on the beds. The bathroom had a miniature sink and there was no trash bin in it.The biggest drawback was the shower. The opening was so small that my partner couldnt get in and to add insult to injury, when I tried to take a shower, the water was lukewarm. Also, the door to the bathroom didnt close properly and the floorboard on which the door was situated was loose. Finally, we admit to not having done our due diligence insofar as the breakfasts were concerned, but after having enjoyed the delicious food and warm hospitality of our hosts along the way, eating a cold breakfast on a tiny foldaway table squeezed into the room, was very disappointing. This felt much more like a cheap motel than a typical B&B.

Great place to sayI stayed in a self contained unit, which is set away from the main house. There was a sink, small table and chair, small fridge and microwave. It was very clean. The continental breakfast has a good choice of cereal, milk, yogurt, cheese, butter and 2 choices of bread, white or brown and croissant, which is already in the room when you arrive. Parking is in the pubs car park opposite. Owner is very friendly. great place to stay.

Wish we'd stayed longerFriendly welcome by owners to this wonderful little B&B and we can highly recommend it. We stayed in one of the three self contained rooms, it was compact but very comfortable. Ideal for 1, 2, or 3 nights. The beds were very comfortable and for the first time in years we slept until after 8am . The 'light' breakfast was enough to last you until your evening meal - just about anything you may want was there. Enjoyed sitting out in the peaceful garden where you could just have a coffee or even take your breakfast out to eat at one of the tables. If you don't want to cook then the Yew Tree pub (less than a minutes walk away) serves deliciuous meals. Just mind your head on the low beams!
