Gorgeous typical hotel in a great setting !I stayed there just one night. Really uphill from Semarang, so pure air and not so hot. The property comprises genuine joglos spread in a large garden and rice paddies wonderful !! Nice and relativemy large swimming pool. Good restaurant around a nice pond with water lilies. Interesting museum ! Our joglo comprised 2 not so big bedrooms and a large living area under the joglo : 2 large sofas, a dining table. And decoration with old tools. All in local and antique nice style. On he down side, there was no hot water, and the toilet is inside the room. However we loved the place. It feels very genuine and the overàl place is really beautiful.

Quality seems to be slippingThird visit. Many aspects still excellent - impeccable staff, cleanliness, but there are little things that need addressing. Wi-fi: pretty much a basic requirement for modern life now. Used to be available in the restaurant area at least, but now completely unavailable. Management should also take a look at the menu - cutting it back to a more limited number of dishes that the kitchen can prepare well. Diners are now faced with quite a few being "not available" and in those that are available, there is quite a lot of 'recipe slippage'. For example, chicken Katsu was highly inauthentic: basically chicken pieces in batter served with chilli sauce, no attempt at all to give any Japanese feel to the dish. Green curry was just soto ayam with a dollop of extra chilli and a dash of coconut milk. Very disappointing. :(

QuietThis place actually not too far from local resident, but we find a quiet and tranquil life. Good place for you to escape from any activity. Fast, warm and very helpfull employee. Never ask for tv cable or good internet connection here, because their offer was escape for your routine.

Morning Visit - excursion from Cruise ShipWe visited this resort as part of Semerang on Shore excursion. I could have easily spent the day here. So much work and planning has been put in to making building and surroundings authentic. Would have loved to have spent more time in the museum, and wandering the surrounds. Unfortunately 2 bus loads of tourists there at the same time. Greeted with ginger tea (would love the recipe) first tea I've really liked. Morning tea of fresh Fruit was delicious. Hosts were very friendly Short guided tour was very informative. Would stay here, if I ever return to Indonesia.

Just had a day-visit, with food and snacksThere are some special efforts made to preserve old javanese culture, especially the so-called joglo houses of Java: normally square buildings with a rectangular cone-shaped roof. The unique part is the central construction, or soko guru (I was told!), comprises four pillars topped by a series of horizontal squares that bear the weight of the roof. Hills Joglo Villa has nine such houses collected from central Java being 100 to 300 years old. The resort is located in the middle of the main wet rice fields. You may buy a day-packet that gives you access to the resort, some entertainment, garden restaurant and a huge collection of more than 2500 ceramic objects. (perhaps for the more decerning few!) You may benefit from looking at their web-site as well
