  Sueño reparador

  Necesitaba descansar y decidí buscar un pueblo lejano en el norte de Irlanda. Acerté de lleno. La habitación muy amplia y limpia, con vistas a la catedral . Perfectamente insonorizada . Resultado: sueño reparador . Muy recomendable para ir con familias, muchas actividades para niños.

  Una MARAVILLA!!!

  Fuimos al hotel por lo céntrico que estaba, y nos sorprendió, es nuevo, algo fuera de lo normal, moderno y un trato de tres chicos (uno de ellos llamado Ivan) muy amables. Fuimos con dos niños y estaban ilusionados con la habitación hay que decir que es un hotel pequeñito pero la limpieza y la amabilidad destaca de muchos hoteles de 5 estrellas. Su vuelvo a galway volveré sin dudarlo. Un saludo chicos y seguir con esa ilusión

  Excellent spa treatments only redeeming feature to an awful stay

  I was accompanying my husband on a business trip. I have so many comments I may as well put them in time order. First impressions, hotel definitely needs a bit of work, overall very shabby. On check in, greeted by gum chewing reception staff. Wifi was absolute rubbish. At lunch my wine glass was very grubby but at least it didn't have my pet hate of lipstick on it. Which was more than can be said for the water glass that did have a big smack of pink lipstick. Squashed food on the floor (which was still there at dinner). I ordered pizza for dinner which appeared to be a frozen supermarket one and was soggy in the middle. Our room had a odd four poster bed with net curtains around it that was probably cool decades ago. There was a constant humming sound in the room which kept me awake. (The next day I worked out that the noise stopped if you took the key out of the power holder. On further investigation I realised there was a utility room next to ours which housed electrical equipment that made noise once our key was inserted). My husband had to leave the hotel around 5am in the morning for work. He couldn't get out of the building. All locked up with lights off. No night porter. He knocked on doors, the place was deserted. He came upstairs until 6am and then got out but only through the Leisure Centre. I did a bit of yoga in the morning and whilst on my mat noticed that the previous occupant of the room must have been a blonde. Loads of hairs stuck to the carpet. Later when having breakfast I could hear water dripping. I stood up and looked over my table to see an ice bucket collecting the water dripping from ceiling. I laughed to myself and looked to one side to see the table adjacent with lots of napkins wedged underneath the leg, I assume to rectify a wobble. It felt like Fawlty Towers. Later I went down for my spa treatments - filled with trepidation. I needn't have worried as both my hot stone back massage and head, neck and shoulder massage were amazing. Some of the best I have ever had. Thanks to Joanne in the Spa. It was the only redeeming feature to a dreadful hotel stay. Staying in a hotel should be a treat, this was a penance. I couldn't get out of the place quick enough and get home.

  Wedding venue

  We had the most amazing wedding day and weekend at the hillgrove hotel. Mary and the rest of the staff were absolutely fantastic. They made us feel like nothing was too much to ask and the attention to detail was very much appreciated. Mary has such a lovely calm approachable Manor and I knew our day was in great hands from the beginning, she really knows her stuff!! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The ballroom we chose for both our ceremony and reception was just newly refurbished to a high standard with its own entrance and drinks reception area, extremely handy for us as we decided to go ahead in the middle of a pandemic. Both myself and my husband and all our guests felt the hotel took all the necessary steps to keep us safe and protected. Our day was just dreamy!!! I cannot recommend having your wedding in this venue enough. It was an absolute delight!

  Our Wedding at the Hillgrove Hotel 2020

  We had such a fabulous time for our wedding on the 4th September, I seriously can not recommend this hotel enough! We originally booked our wedding for May and had to reschedule to Sep due to Covid 19. The hotel/staff were beyond accommodating and helpful! We finally had our day on the 4th of September and it was absolutely amazing. Mary, Enda and all the staff couldn't have done more to ensure that we had the best day ever, which we absolutely did! The wedding packages are fantastic value and the food and service was something else! The function room is just stunning, everyone commented on it! Special thanks to Breda and Sharon for their help in booking all the rooms, liaising with us and reassuring us throughout lock down. Mary- you were such a pleasure to deal with and we knew that our wedding would be in good hands from our first meeting! Thank you so much to yourself and Enda for not only ensuring our day ran smoothly but for really going above and beyond! Although our wedding wasn't how or when we originally planned, it was still every bit as magical! The Van Gough suite is just stunning, especially in the times we find ourselves in, it's spacious while its recently renovated interior still creates the most gorgeous setting. It also has it's own private reception area which was always on my must list - but again is particularly suited to Covid times! The room along with the hotel garden and the stunning Cathedral across the road- you won't be short of amazing photo ops!
