Still one of the bestWe visited Hillard House two years ago and were glad to return. Not much has changed, they are still friendly, the accommodations are clean and comfortable the chef is still amazing. The house is located right next to the university and we enjoyed walking in the city. We found more things to see as we walked, the downtown is more developed and clean. Only a few homeless and we were not bothered by anyone. We would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Wow. A hidden gem in the area.Im originally from the area, and needed a place to spend the evening after attending a wedding. I found this place online - and initially thought most of the reviews were fake. Theyre too perfect. But - THEYRE NOT FAKE. This place really is that great. Cecilia and Gordon were very kind and helpful, and the venue is basically a restored victorian area (?) mansion. It was clean, comfortable, and very charming. More towels than you usually get at even the nicest hotels - and the room was very nice. The staircase was my favorite part of the house - really lovely. We could have spent a day just exploring the house really. The bed was very clean and relatively new. The room was furnished uniquely and was extremely comfortable and cozy. It is like most older homes - the electrical system can be a bit touchy. Sometimes us walking across the floor seemed to make the lights flicker. Very minor - but something to note. The only thing that was a downside for me - was the shower. It was clean and had great water pressure - but it was very small (maybe people were smaller back when the house was built ?). I had a difficult time soaping up my body because I literally could not find any space that wasnt under the shower stream. To fix this - I would recommend changing the showerhead. If a showerhead that had more lateral movement was installed, folks could aim the water flow at the wall while soaping up, then turn it onto them when rinsing. But - thats all really splitting hairs. The place was awesome, and the hosts nailed the experience. Ive already recommended the place to my own family, and Ill probably be back myself in the future. Thanks for having us Cecilia and Gordon!

WOW! If you are looking to book a lovely Bed & Breakfast in the area ~ THIS IS THE ONE !!!What a lovely, enchanting and romantic place to stay! I always read reviews prior to booking accommodations and when I went on-line to check out the Hillard House I really starting questioning whether it was too good to be true as every review was better than the next... Well, we discovered for ourselves that The Hillard House IS beyond special. Our stay in The Gold Room was absolutely lovely ~ tastefully furnished in period pieces that belonged to the owners family. No detail has been overlooked in this gem of a home. The front porch swing was a lovely place to just sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Delicious Homemade breakfast in the formal dining room with other guests was a lovely way to start off the day. Thank-you Cecelia and Gordon for sharing your wonderful home with us... our plan is to return and bring another another couple with us so too can enjoy a beautiful stay. Fondly Barbara and Owen Northern Va

Charming B&B with Great OwnersPlanned a hiking trip in nearby Ricketts Glen and my husband and I prefer to stay at B&Bs - when I found Hillard House Inn. Cecilia and Gordon both greeted us at the door when we arrived at 9pm and showed us to the room - with was totally lovely. We stayed in the Rose Room. We completely loved the Victorian feel of the house and Cecilia's home-baked muffins in the morning for breakfast were to die for! We would definitely return here if we ever plan another trip to Wilkes-Barre, PA!

A charning night in Wilkes BarreLinda and I had a wonderful stay at the Hillard House inn, Wilkes Barre Pa last night. The Inn dates back to the mid-1800 and is filled with antiques at every turn. The 80-year-old elevator was especially unique. Gordon and Cecilia are great hosts and the breakfast was delish. An all-around charming Inn.
