Peaceful stay on the hillThe place is very nice. They only have few rooms to offer. The hill side room with sky deck was so nice for a good getaway from city view and load of people. Breakfast was great also. The price was a bit high but it was worth if you are looking for special place like this.

Bed of ANTS, Power Outages, FAR from town, friendly staff... not worth the priceMy wife and I spent 3 days at the Vanilla hill lodge for our honeymoon last week, when we showed up we were greeted at the street in the dark, signed paperwork in the dark with flashlights being held over our head then taken to our room, which had no electricity. The staff was friendly but because they didnt speak English at all and we didnt speak Thai, we had no idea of the power outage was normal or when the power would turn back on. The room was as pictured, nice. But the worst part of it all was our room was literally covered in ants the entire time. The bathrooms, floors, sinks, bathtub, AND OUR BED. All night we were flicking ants off our bodies, we would wipe the sheets only to have it covered in ants again 20 min later. NOT the way you want to spend the first few nights of your honeymoon! See pictures. We were the only people staying at the resort so I felt bad about the staff needing to wait for us to provide food and breakfast if we wanted. Not many choices, food wasnt great. This place is really far from town. A lot of taxi drivers didnt want to drive out that far. Typically hotel van was 800baht to town. This place was not worth the price and not a great spot if you are wanting to do things in Chiang Mai. Close to elephants though which is why we chose it.

StunningPulled in around 8pm after the night safari and it was a blackout - staff helped us sort it all out under candlelight and then cooked us a late dinner which they brought to the room. Power came on again around midnight which was lucky as we were melting.... AC kicked in then. We awoke to the spectacular vista of the room design having length of room floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the property. The cacophony of birds was amazing. Thoroughly recommend this place, we planned one night and stayed two. Simple dinners, in our room and fantastic breakfasts - well worth the price.

PrivateWe booked hoping for a retreat, somewhere private and with a balcony to enjoy the nature and thats exactly what we got. If you want a resort with a swimming pool this is the wrong place but if you want a private villa on the hill side with a balcony in the jungle then this is perfect. I celebrated my 30th birthday here and have no regrets! The room is huge, bathroom too. The only thing that we were disappointed with was the bed was a little hard for our liking, perhaps more Thai style. The staff were great and helped us with the luggage. I recommend hiring your own car and bringing some snacks or drinks with you as theres no shops close by. The breakfast was order the evening before but enough. We bought a little extra fruit and snacks for beer in the evenings. We had the most wonderful two nights here!
