Beautiful, quiet, lovely hostsIve never stayed at a bnb before, what a pleasure it was. Lovely room with ensuite, cassowaries and wallabies, and the hosts made us feel at home and provided a wonderful breakfast. The grounds were immaculate too

The room is so lovely and is very comfortable. The breakfast is a very good start for a perfect day. When you visit mission beach, it is a must to stay at Hibiscus Lodge. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE! BEST B&B IN AUSTRALIA!After driving over 7400 kms from Port Douglas to Adelaide, we stayed at many places, and 4 B&B's. The Hibiscus Lodge was our first B&B experience on our trip in Australia, and by far our best ... anywhere in Australia, and in the world! We stayed here early October for 2 nights. Upon our arrival, Robert was outside and gave us a friendly welcome. Adrienne immediately came outside to welcome us as well. They showed us our accommodations, which were wonderful. There were 2 other guest rooms, and a large common area with a comfortable couch, coffee table and TV and a selection of movies. We never watched it though. At the time, we were the only guests, and it was nice. Each night from 6 - 7 pm Adrienne and Robert invited us to join them for a glass of wine and good conversation on the outdoor deck. The property was beautiful, the weather was great! We were out and about hiking and beaching during the day, and only once my husband enjoyed their lovely pool. He said it was refreshing. We would get up and go for breakfast around 7:30 a.m. Our first morning was a riot, as it was early Spring, and the male Kangaroo was after the 5 or 6 females! Robert was shooing the male away with the water hose! All the kangaroos were running in circles through the trees, then the yard, trees again, as the male chased the females! Finally things settled and the females and young kangaroos came toward the house where we were having our breakfast to feed. Adrienne fed them sweet potato to supplement their food source as with the drought food could be scarce for them. She also set out clean water. The next morning was a little quieter, as the male did not appear to be around. :-) Breakfast was delicious. Adrienne made fresh homemade plain yogurt. I do not normally like yogurt, especially plain yogurt, but I loved Adrienne's homemade! She also set out a bowl of fresh cut up fruit salad that entailed pineapple, cantaloupe, kiwi, honeydew, blueberries and grapes, etc. to mix into the yogurt, if you wanted, as well as granola. There were cereals, toast, hot coffee or tea, apple and orange juice, and more. After we had finished eating, Robert and Adrienne would sit down with us over a cup of coffee and visit for awhile. They are truly wonderful hosts. They shared great advice for places to visit and things to do during our travels, as they have also driven and camped many places throughout Australia. It was funny to hear Adrienne describe the noises she would hear in the night, what they were, and what was happening. We returned from a hike around 1 pm our first day, and a Cassowary was approaching the deck. Again, due to the drought, Adrienne would feed it apple and water. It was amazing to see such a beautiful creature so close up. So colourful! Only one other location in the wild did we happen upon a cassowary. One doesn't often get a glimpse of these beautiful creatures. The other B&B's that we stayed at during our trip were comfortable, but not interactive with our hosts. Breakfast would be slices of bread wrapped in plastic wrap, and couple of danishes and packaged yogurt in the fridge that they purchased at a grocery store. Nothing special. Very impersonal. We absolutely loved staying here, and if you have the opportunity, you will also have a wonderful time. Thank you so much Adrienne & Robert for making our stay very pleasant!

Breakfast with WallabiesNice place owned by a really friendly couple. In the mornings at breakfast time, they throw out some patatas to attract Wallabies which is a really nice experience. The owners will be happy to help you with tipps and insights on what to do in the area. The room could have been cleaner though.

B&B as it should beA lovely small scale B&B with very welcoming hosts. Conveniently located in Mission beach. We enjoyed several of the myriad of walking trails in close proximity and went for a day outer reef diving. The hosts tell you something about life in Australia and Mission Beach. Afternoon tea/drink is a nice moment for contact with both the host and other guests if you prefer. Breakfast included some lovely fresh baking completing a perfect experience. Thanks for having us!
