  Disappointed.

  Very disappointed. We stayed here based on all of the positive reviews. We arrived at the address shown on our reservation to find the place dark and locked up. After waiting around for 30 mins, a couple walking by told us that the hotel has multiple properties and to walk three blocks to this restaurant which is also owned by the hotel. We arrived at the restaurant told them that we had reserved a room at the Hexenhaus. The server was helpful, checked up in but informed us we would be staying in the Herrenhaus. Room: Room was cute with lots of space. Bed was very hard and the towels were very stiff. The spa below are room looked nice and appeared to be busy. Internet: The internet did not work. After asking about no one was able to help fix it. Breakfast: Breakfast was fine but was located in the Hexenhaus so it was a few block walk from the Herrenhaus. The big surprise came when we checked out and found out that they do not take non german credit cards. The woman aslo did not know where an ATM or where the closest bank was located! We ventured out and luckily came across an ATM withdrew cash to pay our bill and returned to the hotel. Would not have been disappointed if we were told the correct location to check- in to the hotel or that they did not take foreign credit cards. Breakfast fine. No Credit Cards nor did they know where a ATM was located.

  Very nice and good value

  We stayed at the Katzenhaus, which is one of the multiple properties. The apartment was nicely appointed and comfortable. The hotel's spa building is a short distance as is a restaurant with a beer garden. The restaurant is quite good. Breakfast was served in the Hexenhaus, an 18th century building that has been nicely renovated. It is out of town, but it is a pretty neighborhood and quiet. If you don't need to stay in downtown Dresden, this is a place to consider. The only complaint is that the Hexenhaus would not allow us to pay with a credit card. We needed to go to an ATM and get cash. That was inconvenient and they should let people know. If we go back to Dresden, we would probably stay there again.

  The experience I could do without

  Looks nice fromthe outside, but never made it into any room. Beware -after 6pm the reception is closed and your asked to call at the restaurant. During the booking process you are asked you to name your arrival time. Well, I was late. As there was not much business at the restaurant that day it was already closed. No sign, no answer to the phonecall. Only 90 minutes and 5 hotels later I managed to find a room, at an eyewatering price. So - beware the witches!

  Great stay at the witch house

  The witch house (hexenhaus) is a great place to stay when visiting Dresden. Dont expect big rooms and mind your head. The Hexenhaus offers small cosy rooms that give you the feeling youre staying at your grandmas attic. The reception is warm and friendly and the food is good for a fair price. From the Hexenhaus the bus and tram take you to downtown Dresden in just 20 minutes.

  Very fine

  This is a very atmospheric place to stay. We were lucky in that we were in the Hexenhaus itself, although they have a number of other properties. If you are in one of these you still have to go to the main property for breakfast. Our rooms were excellent with a sitting room downstairs and the bedroom above. Clean and comfortable, on a note of caution, the shower base is very high from the floor, making for a large step down. The food, however, is superb and I would recommend dining in. A marvellous place and I hope to return one day.
