  Lunch with my grandson

  Together with my grandson we had lunch at Het Rechthuis in Uithoorn. Having been there before on various occasions we were looking forward to another nice lunch. It was a lovely warm sunny day. We parked the car (good parking facilities) & when we walked in there was a young man behind the bar who totally ignored us! He was joined by a female colleague who also ignored us. Not a very good start! We walked though the bar/restaurant to the terrace where a few people were having lunch.The terrace, which looks onto the River Amstel, is pleasant with large parasols which give plenty of shade. We sat down & after waiting rather a long time, we were served by a young & pleasant young lady. What a difference compared to her older colleagues! Unfortunately she had little knowledge of beers on offer & didn't appear to know what a sauvignon blanc was! When the (bottle of) beer arrived,it was served in a small tumbler! After commenting on this a beer glass finally appeared! We plodded on & ordered a carpaccio for my grandson & a tuna salad for myself. When it finally arrived the tuna salad looked extremely unappetizing. Three scoops of potato salad with a couple of tiny pieces of tuna had been thrown onto a plate. An ice cream scoop had obviously been used to serve the potato (tuna) salad. A tiny portion of limp salad had been added which made it even worse! Accordimg to my grandson the carpaccio was OK but nothing special. All in all extremely disappointing. Now that this restaurant offers hotel accomodation, I was very interested in making enquires for family members, friends & business associates who regularly come to The Netherlands. After this experience I didn't bother! Such a shame as the location is very pleasant, parking facilities are good & in the past we have been well satisfied with the food. We certainly won't be returning in the near future.

  Good accomodation, very good cuisine.

  If you travel like couple everything is perfect in this hotel. If you travel alone the single rooms are not so comfortable, especially the bad. The cuisine is wonderfull and when the hotel is full and I have to sleep in another place, I go to eat there.

  Nice hotel and wonderful position

  The hotel is very nice and comfortable, far from the chaos of the big city and directly in front of the river bank. The position makes it particulary beautiful and relaxing hotel to stay in, even more so because of its family-run management feeling. Staff is very nice. Rooms are not very well soundproofed, but i did not have ant issue sleeping there. The fact that this is a small hotel probably helps. Spaces are small but comfortable, and very homy, and that for me was a bonus. Morover guests can enjoy tea and coffee in their rooms. Breakfast is in line with the hotel in general, homy, not the continental one of international hotel chains, but very good and genuine.

  Good food, beautiful view

  We tried the 3-course menu: great value for money. French style kitchen, good quality and great presentation. Compliments to the cook. Most tables offer a beautiful view over the Amstel River, which is even better from the terrace on a sunny day.

  Nice weekend escape

  Nice small hotel. Place is very peaceful and relaxing. Recommend for short stay. Rooms are clean and big enough. Breakfast is very good if you manage to be at the beginning in the morning because after there is nothing left also not good if you wish to go to Amsterdam city centre as it is bit far away.
