  Double booking hermanus beach club

  Our accomodation was double booked. We paid in full and had to book another place again. Unathi advised us that her flat was not being rented out by trip advisor anymore but holiday lettings still took our money for 6 days. How do we get this money back now????

  In desperate need of a facelift

  Stayed here with my parents and my son for Easter weekend. Whilst the lady who took our booking did tell me that the estate is now opposite a newly developed township as she felt it right to be honest which was highly appreciated, that wasn't what made the stay unpleasant. We stayed in an upstairs apartment (I forgot the number but know it's 2 - 3 floors up) with a broken tv, old bedding, broken skirting boards and opposite the night time noise of the bustling township. The pool is quite a walk from the unit so we drove there once and during peak period like Easter it's just too full to even find space. Overall the place looks like it needs a serious revamp. We spent most of the 2 days after arrival out driving to Caledon spa and other restaurants to spend the day there.

  Beautiful views

  The Hermanus Beach Club is used by owners, permanent residents and holiday visitors. The accommodation we were in was clean and neat but the smell upon entry was not a fresh smell even though the front door was standing open when we arrived. The bed in the main bedroom creaked and groaned when you sat on it with even more sounds when lying down. It felt as though it would collapse beneath you if you turned over suddenly. This did not make for relaxing sleeping. We were unaware of the informal settlement that butts right up to this property and there is no way you can avoid it as there is only one road that leads to the entrance which is where you will encounter the informal settlement spilling onto the side of the road. However, the position of this property has excellent views and friendly staff are seen all over the property going about their various tasks.

  Perfect Spot

  Hermanus Beach Club is the perfect spot to stay while you are in Hermanus. It has everything you need including swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, a putt-putt (mini-golf) course, a bar and kiosk, a gym and more, making this perfect for groups of different ages as well as families. Most of the houses and apartments are privately owned and rented out, ensuring you will find accommodation within your price range, with the most expensive options being right on the beachfront. There are big open lawns where you can relax, as well as a walking path along the coast. Most of the coastline is smooth rocks, but there are small "beach" like areas where the kids can also play. The resort is very well managed and clean, and all the staff is friendly and helpful. It is important to note that there is an informal settlement right behind the resort, which is not ideal, but the resort itself is very safe - it's surrounded by electric fencing and cameras, and there are security guards on premises 24/7. We had such a great time staying here, hearing the ocean every evening while you sleep and waking up every morning with the beautiful waves (some of the biggest I have ever seen). We were also fortunate enough to see some whales from our stoep, and I have heard that some people have also spotted schools of dolphins pass by. My next trip to Hermanus I will definitely be staying here again.

  Very relaxed stay, amazing views

  Stayed for 4 nights, booked unit 216 from the owners via AirBnB. Important to note that not all units are the same, ours was definitely above-average. It was a top-floor unit (3rd floor walk-up) which was not ultra-modern BUT very neat, clean and spacious. Good quality linen and towels, extra pillows and blankets, well-equipped kitchen. One of the few units that has a large rooftop terrace. Indoor fireplace as well as indoor and outdoor barbeque facilities. Boasts unobstructed, panoramic ocean views from the terrace, main living area and main bedroom. No washing machine in the apartment, but there is a self-service laundromat on-site (tokens can be purchased via the machine, but it does not give change). Other amenities include a small convenience shop, swimming pools, games room, tennis courts and putt-putt. This resort is located right next to an informal settlement called Zwelihle and driving through it can be a bit off-putting, but the resort itself is very safe and chilled. The resort is a short drive from central Hermanus and you can easily go to Whale Coast Mall, Station Square or Village Square to shop for anything u may need. The Information Kiosk at Old Harbour Market is really helpful if you want to find out about activities in the area (e.g. hiking, diving, zip-lining, etc). The resort is located on a very rocky part of the coastline. If you want sandy beaches, go to Grotto Beach (about 7km away) - it's an awesome blue-flag beach.
