  Perfect atmosphere and great people

  It was a great deal paying 90 EUR for 6 nigths. My 5/5 note is not for a five star Hotel but for a very comfortable and kind of stylish apartment for such price. It was cleaned every day and we had a plenty of sapce - large living room with small kitchen place, large bedroom, more than enought bathroom, a kind of a terrace and a veranda. Lack of a TV is not a problem - you still have a WiFi. Girls taking care of the place and the Bar are great - especially playing Hangman and other funny games till late nigh in the BAR.

  Rustic or crumbling?

  We stayed for a week it is without a doubt the most basic Greek accommodation I have ever stayed in in over 30 years. However it is also probably the cheapest. The stairs were a nightmare about 90 to our room. Great views. Everything was falling apart, but the bed was comfortable. You had to squeeze over the loo to use the shower. Totally unsuitable for young children or anyone not pretty fit. Handy pool and bar next door at memories which appeto be owned by same people. We never saw any owners or reception. Just the Albanian cleaner, George the barman and the handyman see the pictures and make your own mind up

  HELLiotrope would be more suitable

  First let me start by saying some of the pictures on trip advisor are NOT of the Heliotrope apartments, the Heliotrope Hotel is somewhere completely different firstly, there is no pool, the use of a pool is at the "Memories aps" which is next door and bears no resemblance in fact to the pool shown in the pictures, the Heliotrope are the worst apartments we have ever stayed in , in over 30 visits to Greece, do not confuse Basic Greek apartments with dirty, neglected and dismal. The access to all the apartments is via and outside set of steep steps over 100 in the case of the top apartment, which we got, they have very few hand rails and the ones that were there were in dangerous condition even though we had requested weeks before a lower one there was no need to stick us up there considering most of the studios , (apartments is a laughable term for these cramped rooms) were unoccupied. There is no reception, one maid ,who turns up very occasionally, information for your room is a sheet of paper with your name and room number clipped to a board at the bottom of the steps(ours wasn't by the way) informing you the key is in the door of the appropriate room. we finally got in touch with the owner who blamed everyone else for the confusion and offered us a lower floor room ( for the following day) in the Memories apartments, which he also owns, by 5 pm the following day the room had still not been cleaned and was in a disgusting state, left by the previous occupants some three days before according to the list pinned to the notice board, as we were now sat outside at 5pm my wife undertook to clean the room herself , the maids cleaning cupboard being left open and no sign of her whatsoever, we brought the bedding down from our first allocated room and moved in two days of our weeks holiday now wasted, more excuses from the owner on the following day of the cleaner being ill and her substitute failing to turn up did not help, we were then told if we needed clean towels we could just get them from the cleaners room ourselves, we had also bought soil bucket bags (which we emptied ourselves for two days putting them into a convenient large garbage bin which was in front of the property on the roadside) and litter bin bags from the supermarket, by the fourth day the cleaner had put in an appearance and the basics were now applied, the last three days we had little or no hot water and the bar( at the adjoining Memories) which was advertised as open when we booked was never opened and the pool was absolutely filthy. All in all a terrible experience and a lesson learned do not book the cheapest you see as you get what you pay for, thankfully Stalis is full of decent people with lovely tavernas and bars which helped to soften the disappointment a little.

  Heliotrope apartments stalis

  Terrible apartments, the first apartment we were given had a spring poking through the mattress, no safe key, inadequate shower,when I complained about the bed was told 3_4 days for a new mattress, when I said no, they offered to change our room but we had to wait another day, the owner and the barman were rude to us when we complained. We asked for a safe key which they eventually found which then jammed with all our things inside! The fridge was broken and the shower leaked, we had our 2 ragged towels changed twice in 12 days and the bed sheet changed 3 times but this was the extent of the maids duties, our apartment was not cleaned once during our stay, there was no hand rail for the many steep steps up to the apartments which we felt was very dangerous.The pool was tiny with the barman using it for his friends to party in at night time and the apartments smelled very musty. The only good thing I can say about the apartments is that they are quite spacious but I would definitely not recommend them to stay in.

  Lovely stay in Stalis, not at Heliotrope

  Bad Place, never met the owner. Se have been put in a two people apartment even if we were 4..Told it was for 4. Apt.7.We would not discuss as wanted to stay quiet for vacation but I saw the other apt. and It was clearly for two. Not well cleaned, air cond not running. Smells like in a cave you need to keep Windows opened. You can spend the same for a better place there. Lovely neighbours. Pay attention not all pictures you find reflects the place I don't know why but some are referred to a different place maybe Heliotrope hotel not Heliotrope apartments. No food. Only drink at the pool bar but no café.. Nights there is a lot of noise due to the near highway that is very full of traffic at any time. No pedestrian lines so pay attention with Kids Sole positive comment is that Stalis is a wonderful Place. If only the owners would mind for their guests, considering the privileged position of Heliotrope, they could get more money and better comments
