Lovely hotel with everything you need!

Great hotel, lovely staff, big rooms especially the junior suite. Lovely restaurant for breakfast and evening meals. It was definitely worth the money, the railway does run directly behind but in the hotel you didn't notice it, it was very quiet. Great location, will definitely book again if travelling to Essen.

Trendy, modern and great rooms with some drawbacks

Hotel: The hotel is situated on a businesspark which seems to be an old mine or something. Looks great and you can see it from a distance. Price: Prices are good for what you get, a modern room with a great setup. It was strange you need to pay for the parking, even if it's only 2 euro. Room: The room is really modern and looks great. I really loved the way things look. It gives the hotel a modern expensive style, great. One drawback for the room itself is that it had a minibar which had a strange cooling system which made noises (ticking) annoying at some times..... bathroom: The bathroom looks great styled and is really big. I liked the modern look with the brown tints in it (see picture!). Also here a downside that since i was on the first floor, if someone showered or flushed it seems to use the same drainage and the drain of my shower was making water draining noises. Also something which annoyed quite a bit. Services: The Wifi is free and fast, so use it to the full extend, you can use up to 2 devices at the same time. For the rest you get some candy and some coffee/thee/etc. in the room. There is also a minibar you can use if you want. neighborhood: The plus side is the looks of the surrounding and that it should be quiet. Should..... The hotel is situated next to an active railroad which is used heavy for transporting goods. Almost every 15 to 30 minutes a train passes the hotel and it's not a soundproof hotel. The room i had was next to the railroad with only 3 rooms in between so i requested a new room. unf. the hotel was fully booked at that day. This was kind of irritating since i am not used to sleeping next to the railroad. Parking: Parking can be done next door and costs 2 euro per night. Overall: The place looks great, the style is great, but the noises are quite annoying and not something i would expect from a 4* hotel. If this was not the case i would give it 4 to 5 points in rating. The amount of discomfort you get from the previous points do not justify more than 3 unf.

9 months stay - very good all-round hotel for business and leisure

The Heiners was our "job" hotel during a 9 month assignment in the region there. It is a family-owned and run operation, which began decades ago and grew step-by-step into the great hotel and restaurant it is today. Friendly, personal service at all touch-points is clearly a strong point of this hotel. We felt very much "at home" here during our stay from day 1, and the staff go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable. The rooms are very modern, feel "fresh" and the restaurant is also consistently good at any time of day. Another highlight is the gym / wellness / spa area. They have invested in up-to-date, good quality and well-maintained muscle and cardio machines, have a great sauna area and offer many beauty & relax treatments again in a modern and welcoming environment. As we stayed there for such a long duration it is inevitable that one does, on occasion, experience some aspects that require improving. The main one is that the hotel is located right next to a set of busy train tracks. While the well-insulated rooms and "thick" windows surely aid substantially in cutting out related noise, those "light" sleepers who are sensitive to sound or a bit of vibration should bring ear plugs. For me this was only very rarely an issue and one that is solved easily enough. Frankly, after having been there for a few weeks I did not even register the trains anymore...I guess the same goes for people living along the highway or an airport. There were some other, minor niggles we experienced over time, and the hotel is very quick in addressing and resolving these. Consequently, they no longer appear here. Without a doubt, the hotel's management is very intent on continuously improving their service offering, and that shows consistently. During our time there, we also spent the occasional week in some of the big chain hotels in Gelsenkirchen, and none of these even came close to the Heiners in terms of overall value proposition. In addition, none of them ever beat the Heiners on cost. As a customer, one really gets a lot of value for money here. I recommend the Heiners hotel for anyone looking for a home away from home for longer stays or for couples looking for a nice hotel for a week-end stay to discover the local industrial heritage, great museums, excellent Michelin-starred restaurants and so much more that this region has to offer.

Very "soothing" overnight stay during business trip. Cosy, smooth design, great service.

WONDERFUL ROOMS. Very modern. Cosy design: wood, white and purple. Attention to detail: Modern bathroom. Lots of light switches and electric plugs. Free extras: it's so little but other hotels wont just do it: free bottle of water, free tea and coffee, a big bowl of sweets, ear plugs.... The room was so nice it had a "soothing" effect on my mood immediately, after a tiring business travel. AMAZING BED and great QUIETNESS during the quiete hours: only very rare and very dimmed noise from the outside. SLEPT LIKE A BABY, what rarely occurs on business trips. SERVICE: a quiete room was reserved even though I checked in late, the ironing board I asked for was waiting in the room at arrival. LOCATION: no street noise. Train line on the back of the building. 5-10 minutes walk to the S-Bahn (local train), 10 minutes taxi (15) to main train station. Nothing in the near surroundings, but you wouldn't go there to enjoy burstling nightlife. GOOD BREAKFAST: not a huge buffet, but varied and very good quality tasty components. Very good coffee. Fresh ingredients, like fresh orange juice to press yourself. GOOD INTERNET for my three devices. Vouchers are for two devices, just ask for another one if you have more devices. Did't use it (no car..) but there seems to be PARKING directly at the hotel. An enormous car park in the building next door. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT and advice to the management: The NOISE ISOLATION INSIDE THE BUILDING The door from the staircase to the corridor slams with incomprehensibly amazingly loud noise. So do the room doors. The corridor floor is very hard, you hear people's heels and.... the rolling suitcases. I don't understand how a hotel on this level of design and attention to well being included this noise factor in their concept. BUT: if in Gelsenkirchen, this will be my hotel choice again!
