Another memorable stay in BabbacombeWe love Babbacombe and it was a joy to be greeted so warmly by David, the owner of Headland View. On arrival he carried our cases upstairs to our room and within minutes he appeared again with a pot of tea and fruit cake which he laid out for us on the veranda. We stayed in room 5 on the first floor which offers a spectacular view over the downs and Lyme Bay. The room is compact as the shower and toilet compartment have been built into the room. However, the room is tastefully decorated and there were some thoughtful finishing touches such as a bottle of water, various nautical knick knacks, picfures and cushions which gave a welcome ambiance to the room. Also, fresh milk was available in a fridge on the ground floor If we stay again, we would probably choose a more spacious room with a separate bathroom across the landing. Breakfast was tasty with a variety of options. What was so lovely was to have butter in a proper dish, marmalade in a proper jar (not a shop jar or plastic container) and it was all very leisurely and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble for David and we had some interesting conversations with him during our stay. Parking was not a problem - there is room for 4 cars on the forecourt. Thank you David for going the extra mile with everything and for a most enjoyable stay despite the atrocious weather, and the not so happy circumstances for our visit.

Wonderful respite after lockdownI recently enjoyed a wonderful long weekend with my daughter at this charming, characterful B&B. The room was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed - the balcony was an added bonus with views over the Downs and out to sea. David our host was welcoming and friendly and had everything in place with regard to C-19 precautions. There's lots to do within walking distance in this beautiful part of Devon.

Memorable Short BreakJust returned back from our short break at the Headland View B&B. It is easy to find and was very clean and tidy. Our host David was very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was any trouble for him and our stay was comfortable throughout. If parking is an issue, try to arrange this at time of booking, but you'll find parking on a nearby street. Every morning started with a delicious breakfast. This B&B is in a lovely quiet location in its own right but has great public transport links to surrounding towns. Using the open top bus (122 service) outside the B&B gave us access to the steam railway, Dartmouth river cruise and ferry services at Torquay. We had booked a short break in Cornwall, which was cancelled due to double-booking. So glad we ended up here at this well-run B&B and meeting David. Would love to return soon.

Anything but OrdinaryIf you can meet the conditions of stay at this establishment, then you're probably in for the BEST B&B stay of your life, like I had. This accommodation is owner-run and managed, by someone with not only decades of experience in the industry, but also an evident passion for his craft. Meaning you've got direct access to someone who will grant your every (within reason), Bed & Breakfast wish! There are only two or three parking spaces available at the venue, for 6 rooms. These are free, and you'd have to book early enough to reserve one. Roadside parking is very tight, and comes with time-restrictions. However, there are council-run, paid car parks conveniently dotted around the area, between 1 - 10 minutes walking distance from the B&B. This is what I used, and I paid £8.50 for 24 hours; cash only, as machines did not accept cards, and the mobile app for the car park, was not working. I could actually see the back of the B&B from the car park I used, because it was so close. Another thing to be aware of, which I hadn't experienced before, is the 3 hour check in window, however, I cannot emphasize enough, the management is extremely accommodating, and would do everything within his power, to make your stay more enjoyable. So, if you're unable to arrive within the designated time-frame, I'd suggest simply contact the management to make the necessary arrangements. The location of the hotel was very central. I visited for a short-break with my husband - our first time visiting Babbacombe - and we could not have picked a better spot to stay. The hotel is located in a popular area I now know as "The Downs" or Babbacombe downs, and is part of a row of hotels, restaurants, cafes, and pubs, with some of the best local views. Despite this, it was still very peaceful and quiet in the room. Adding to the convenience of the location, we were able to walk to the attractions we wanted to visit, as well as the town centre, and to the starting points of the South Western, coastal, walking trails. I have attached photos of the room. I was most impressed with how much attention to detail went into the decor and layout of the room, making it both stylish and functional. Tastefully decorated, stylishly themed, very clean, plus everything flowed. Entering the room was like being presented with a perfectly wrapped present, that felt like the gift-giver really wanted me to have something nice. Best of all, everything in the room worked as it should, and was well-maintained; in perfect condition. I couldn't find as much a chip of paint missing from the furniture; really well looked after. The in-house breakfast is not to be missed; great quality, fresh food, excellent presentation, and served at the right temperature, in a room with an ocean view, even as late as 09:30 AM. This was very helpful because I am not an early bird. Also, see photos. There was a communal refrigerator conveniently located in a space accessible by all guests. Also, fan, heater, iron, and ironing board etc. located in the storage cupboards, also conveniently located in communal areas. The WiFi was available in my room, and worked perfectly for what I wanted, throughout my stay. Personally, I'd recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again. If you are planning on staying here, and have any concerns, I have no doubt in my mind that David will help you to figure out a great solution, that will work.

Stunning views - lovely little B&BJust returned from an excellent 3 night stay at the Headland View B&B. We had a top floor, sea view room. The views are stunning, well worth the price purely for the view. The B&B is well situated right in the centre of Babbacombe, lots of pubs and restaurants next door to try and beautiful views on the downs right across the road. David is a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. He is a true gent and you can tell he has vast experience in the hospitality industry - thanks for an excellent stay David. Babbacombe itself is lovely. We tried Hamiltons (nice meal out), Buccaneer is great for a pint and you must try Hanbury's fish and chips takeaway!
