  First dining out after lockdown

  As history lovers, we loved the 400 yr old age of the building, with its mullion windows, etc. and the food was really nice too. The young masked man that served us was lovely and even the rather unattractive plastic boards between tables did not detract from the experience.The only reason I scored 4 rather than 5 was because I wanted to feel the history of the place more, learning about and celebrating its past, but the interior was a little too contemporary in its styling for the age of the building, just my humble opinion. Still definitely worth a visit !!!!

  Day out in Howarth

  We came on a bank holiday when it was VERY busy. We had an hour wait for food, but I'm glad we waited, the food was absolutely beautiful and well worth it. Highly recommend this place for a meal when out and about

  Disgusting service

  Disgusting service waited 30 mins outside for service as was not allowed in. Disgusting service left as another left wint go again 45 mins wait food waiters!passed me tons ignored us no organisation xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  We called in for a bite to eat whilst walking the dogs the staff were great, the food lovely and hats off to the landlord for having red stripe on tap. We'll will definitely be back in the near future with a designated driver to take full advantage of this excellent pub.

  Very slow poor service

  I have been here the last 2 nights and still I have not been served. I understand the current covid 19 situation makes serving more difficult. Upon not being served I entered the bar area to see 4 members of staff huddled round a mobile phone. Not one person was outside to serve. Waiting 45 mins for a drink to not be served is unacceptable.
