So specialThis is a lovely, family-run ryokan. When we arrived, we had a hot onsen bath waiting for us. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including some complimentary drinks and a snack. Not luxury, but quality. Had considered staying in a ryokan on Miyajima, but so glad we chose this place. Only 2 more stops on the train, and much more intimate than the more touristy Miyajima. We booked before we knew it had the 2 Michelin stars, but were even more excited to stay here once we found out. The Chef is amazing. Dinner was so so good, but breakfast blew my expectations away. These meals alone made it worth the stay. I recommend staying two nights so you can try both the Japanese and Western breakfast (which still included japanese curry and rice - yum!). Next time we visit Japan, we will make a special trip back here.

amazingAmazing experience.5 star Japanese Hospitality. Room was beautiful and comfy. We spend so much time in private hotspring bath. The mattress was thick, soft and confy so it is easy to sleep even for western people who don't get used sleep on futon. And can't miss to mention about the breakfast. It was the best Japanese Breakfast ever had with amazing view. So glad we could stay there.

Fantastic stayThis was fantastic . The perfect getaway from the big cities. It was an easy train trip from Tokyo and we were picked up by hatomi at Onoura station ( the closest) . The Breakfast and Dinner here was outstanding and a must do. Stayed 2 nights . Great onsen and could not be faulted. Hatomi and the family speak good English and made everything so easy . Went to Tinos the other night for dinner which was also great.many thanks and a true highlight of the trip .

IdyllicCannot say enough good things about our experience at Hatago Sakura, a higher-end ryokan experience. You will be well taken care of in terms of hospitality, service, room quality, and cuisine. Well worth the extra train time from metropolitan Hiroshima for a vacation within a vacation.

Exceptional stayWe stayed for two nights and it was simply amazing. The family and staff were extremely friendly, and liked engaging in conversation. They also suggested places nearby for dinner on our second night, took us there and even in to the restaurant! The room was great for us and the beds were the most comfortable we used in our 3 week trip. The onsen was superb, relaxing and revitalising. They picked us up from the station, took us to the station for our say on Miyajima, picked us up and then took us back when our time here was over. Couldn't recommend this place more!
