    Short break.

Stayed for 1 night in a dog friendly room. Nice and spacious. Good hot shower. The room was at the back of the hotel and accessed by a few flights of stairs. Both up and down. As being a old house quite a few different levels. So if you have mobility problems check with hotel first. We were ok with case and staff did offer to help. We had dinner there at night was lovely. Freshly cooked and good produce. Breakfast was good as well. The one thing that did really stand out was the friendliness and efficiency for the staff. Nothing seemed like to much trouble.

    One night stay

Second time here and it's a nice hotel in a beautiful part of the world. We had two meals here both were excellent. They are insistent on the use of masks which is good. Hotel is very clean, big car park. Good local knowledge, they told us about an excellent secluded beach. Breakfast was lovely too. Only moan is the TV didn't work and the dining room is a bit dated but it's value for money and despite those two really minor issues we will be back there in October hopefully. The staff are excellent, even though they had only been open 4 days post covid they knew what they had to do.

    Lovely meal

Visited yesterday for a meal we chose the 3 course and have to say it was beautiful. Good varied menu cooked fresh and plentiful. The vegetable spring rolls were lovely served hot and crispy, the chicken terrine was delicious . Can highly recommend the duck stir fry. We will definitely be back need to try a flatbread.

    Nonsensical dining experience

Jeff H Christie on a bike, where to start with this joyless experience. Over the years weve attended many weddings and events here and its always been nice. As my parents have been shielding for months we decided it might be a good place to meet for a meal, so phoned up and asked if they could accommodate us as a group (1 bubble and an extra family). This was fine as long as we sat on separate tables. Absolutely no problem with this. We arrived, walked through the door and were immediately barked at where are your masks?. It not being a legal requirement to wear masks in restaurants we hadnt brought them. We were given disposable ones to wear as we walked through an empty restaurant to a table so close by I didnt even had a chance to fasten it behind both ears before we were seated (I have no problem wearing a mask but I object to the lack of welcome, tone and method). We were a 3, 3 and a 2. They gave us two tables of 4. As we had to mix up anyway we asked if we could just push the tables together. Nope, this is against the roolz (and common sense). Ordered a bottle of red wine. This arrived open and was plonked in front of me. It was chilled. We asked if there was a childrens menu no and that was it. No explanation of what they could do, or an offer to speak to the chef. We suggested they take the order of the other table while we tried to sort something out. That apparently was also against the roolz as it had to be done one table at a time (no catching these guys out by suggesting they turn to the next page in the pad and back again). This led to us eating in relay - in your face Covid. The food in fairness was quite nice, though the menu was somewhat surreal in its offering. We werent asked if they could get us anything else and we had to ask for sauces which arrived in unbranded sachets (truly the mark of upmarket dining experience). The final straw was having to pay on your way out a la greasy spoons across the land. The ambience was that of a nursing home, the gastronomic version of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. We just felt like an unwelcome nuisance. We were there because my mother is terminally ill and had convinced herself she was going to die without ever seeing us together again and it was supposed to be fun. Theyve just gone to far. If you dont want custom then stay closed, otherwise its just a waste of everyones time and energy. We have done nothing but restaurant crawl around London and East England for a month and have never experienced anything like it. Everywhere else has made us feel welcome, given a seamless service and managed to work within the rules whilst making it feel normal. For a relatively expensive meal for the area we expected so much more not least a thank you for coming out.
