  Comfortable but don't expect luxury

  We were here in January 2013 as part of a tour group visiting the Ice Festival - Harbin's top attraction making this the peak time. The room was nice and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect except that the TV provided only Chinese channels - no CNN or BBC. But we were only there to sleep so no real problem. We did notice a few holes in the skirting board but didn't have any unwelcome guests. Breakfast was the usual east/west mishmash. The only problem came when we tried to change some money. First denying they could do it, I pointed to the "exchange" sign. They then said they could only change US Dollars or Japanese Yen.

  It is basic

  We were there for 3 nights as part of a tour. Breakfast was good but the rooms were basic and needed new carpet and a paint job. The bathroom looked like something from an isolated mining camp. The staff were very good and helpful. The beds are the hardest I have ever experienced and friends told me the mattresses were stuffed with straw and had no "give".

  Clean & comfortable with a couple of typical local quirks

  Stayed here in January 2015 with a tour visiting the Harbin Ice & snow festival. Rooms were clean with good quality linen and usual extras TV, internet in lobby (not room). Mainly Chinese guests with some efforts to accommodate western needs at breakfast. A fairly typical hotel.

  Adequate

  This hotel was booked by our travel agent for us when we visited Harbin to see the Ice & Snow Festival in January 2015. Hotel was quite adequate for our needs. Not much English spoken by staff, but that was OK as they tried hard to satisfy our needs. Rooms were in need of an update, but otherwise were perfectly clean and amenity generally very good. Breakfast was geared to Asians taste but some effort made to cater for Western style. No English speaking TV channel. Overall the hotel served our purposes well and we really have no complaints.

  Not 5-star but considerably good

  Stayed there 2 weeks in Dec 2017 with a group of students courtesy of some sponsors. The corridors and carpets do need to be refurbished but I did not develop allergies so, no problem. One thing I like best was the hot shower because even though we were on the 7th floor, the hot water would come on within 5 seconds of turning on the water. This is a great amenity considering that we are out in the cold ( -20's or more Celsius) almost the whole day. Staff were courteous , buffet style food for breakfast and dinner almost every day that we were there but there was always a variety of choices. Love the different types of mushrooms cooked in sauce. The hotel management also made sure that our students ( teenagers 13-20) were eating what was served and would ask if there were any preferences, making sure to have the fried stuff at every meal too.
