GreedWe arrived at 2am and was met by John who looks after the bookings, he was welcoming and friendly and after a long travel I asked for a bottle of water which he supplied, the room we had was on the bottom floor under there supermarket, the room had a small balcony, and the room was nice and clean, bathroom was small but workable, we never had any hot water in the mornings to have a shower but we managed with cold showers in the morning, and evenings the shower had hot water, nothing to complain about, the beds were extremely comfy and the pillows, only down side is you cant sleep as a couple as there all single beds and although shoved the beds together and packed the middle with blankets it was still uncomfortable. The air con worked but didnt oscillate and was poor at best, and due to the hot weather we moved our beds over to the other side of the room to try and get some coolness at night. The electricity went off on two occasions and on one occasion took 4 hours to be put back on late in the evening, the main issue we had was the noice from the supermarket above us as every night it woke us up with the apartment owners closing the shop all we could hear is them dragging in and moving merchandise around the floors! That coupled with running water which I presume was toilet or cleaning the floors which went on for best part of an hour from around midnight. The supermarket is very expensive, compared to some others in the area, and if you want to pay by card you have to pay another 1% commission on top of your purchases. We went across the road to there restaurant on the first morning and we both had full breakfast about 6.50 each (not bad) but if you dont like Nescafé and want a cappuccino or any other coffee then you have to pay extra, they have sunbeds on the beach which you have to pay 5 for (2 beds and a parasol) comes as standard! But we noticed some establishments further along you dont pay if you are buying a drink or having something to eat off them! We ate one lunch at the restaurant I had spaghetti carbonara which I must say was very dry hardly any sauce or bacon, and spaghetti was discoloured in places maybe due to be being precooked and left out uncovered? My other half had gyros pitta which once again compared to Styrtaki next door was small with not much filling. Was not impressed with there food however that is our personal feeling, talking to other guests they enjoyed there food there! The mom and dad ( owners) mom works in the kitchen preparing meals and cooking however neither of them wish to use the card machine for payment, and on our last day the Dad, said dont know why we should take card payments and next year they are going to charge 3% extra as he dont like payments being made by card! Going back to our room the cleaner every day turned off the aircon in our room, I kept it on because I broke my foot and leg a few months ago and when we got back from being out I had to elevate and keep my foot and leg cool to help with the pain and swelling, but every single day she came in to turn it off, the one day I was not well and we were both in bed naked when the cleaner didnt even knock the door and walked in on us!! The room was not cleaned every day but every few days but to a minimum standard. Day before checkout we were asked if we wanted to keep our room a bit later for an extra 20 we declined and said if we wanted a shower we could later that day for an extra 3 each, we declined hearing guests who paid for a shower they complained that the shower was terrible and not worth it as it hardly trickled out water for them to wash! We spent a lot of money on drinks and having to use the supermarket, but its total Greed on there behalf. My advise use the Italian restaurant 2 buildings away on same side as supermarket next to Mr Gelato absolutely fantastic good value and amazing food

WonderfulSpent eleven days with Harry, John and family in the lovely located studios. So close to all amenities and pretty much on the beach, it was perfect in every way. Studios were clean and airy and free aircon was appreciated. Hope to return soon.

What a brilliant holidayI decided to stay by myself for three weeks at the end of September, beginning of October. I was a little worried about being on my own but I didnt need to be. John the owner met me off the bus and it was all good from there on. Even though it was late he offered me food and drinks, and got me water for my room. My room faced out over the back furthest away from the road, it was typically Greek, basic but spacious and had everything you needed. The water pressure was good and hot water provided an excellent shower everyday. The room was kept spotlessly clean. The complex is split by the main road. The shop (which wasnt open) and my room was on one side and then there are more rooms and the bar/restaurant on the other, that then leads onto the beach. I ate at the restaurant every day for two weeks and enjoyed everything. Mummy is an amazing cook. Then I went out to explore different places to eat. The food everywhere was amazing and surpassed all expectations. I was a bit concerned that there wasnt any swimming pool at the apartments, but both Harry and John assured me that the sea was the best swimming pool I would find, and they were right. It was absolutely fabulous and I swam miles in the bay everyday. I also explored the ruins at the end of the beach and the harbour, then the old town on the top of the hill, which is a good walk directly upwards. (There is a bus for the less able). There are regular inexpensive buses to other destinations on the island and getting to the airport by bus is only 20 minutes and costs less than 3 one way. I was made to feel very welcome and one of the family. Harry, the dad is a legend in Kefalos. Everyone knows him. He keeps all the guests entertained. I sat with various people in the restaurant and made lots of new friends. Many of the people there have been coming to stay or eat with Harry for the last 30 years, returning year on year. Im looking forward to returning. Id recommend if youre looking for a cheap, no frills, slice of Greece in a quieter resort, with a beautiful beach, and lovely helpful Greek people then this is for you.

So disappointedSeveral weeks before we travelled I emailed the owner to request an upper floor, this was declined and was told we had a ground floor, looking at the photo of the studios ,I became apprehensive ,then I saw the previous review by Wolverhampton1972 and tried to convince my husband to change accommodation, sadly he wouldn't. Think we must have had the same room (17).on arrival, taken downstairs into a dark corridor, once in the room ,my fears were confirmed ,my view was a wall!! Made worse by the fact ,we'd arrived from a lovely week at the Saraya Resort on Leros. Had to clean parts of the bathroom before we could use it. The noise from the road and the shop upstairs was awful. Yes we did have clean bedding and clean towels, certainly not fluffy! The only positive thing I can say is, it had a toaster! The family were nice but need to smile more! but probably my grumpiness didn't help! I shouldn't complain, I booked it after reading earlier reviews but it was definitely 2* so really shouldn't have expected much.
