excellent traditional ryokan, strongly recommendHanayagi no Sho Keizan hotel is a traditional ryokan in Isawa onsen area, which cater mainly to local japanese guests. Service was excellent with Japanese hospitality. when we entered the hotel, we were greeted immediately, welcoming us. after checkin, we were invited to the hotel lobby which we were served the real green tea (not the tea-bag type) with the japanese snack. then we were guided to choose the yukata which we changed. Dinner was traditional keiseki dinner which was service in the room - the food was uniquely designed and very delicious especially the beef which melts in the mouth. also the outdoor onsen design is beautiful. Likes very much 1. near the train station about 8mins walk, if you don't like to walk, they have shuttle bus service too. a. exit from isawa onsen train station, b. walk straight (see the Aeon shopping, it is the same path) c. toward hotel (from the station you can see the huge Chinese character building, yes it is this building) 2. Dinner - excellent keiseki dinner - delicious and served in room 3. Service - excellent Japanese hospitality 4. Breakfast - Japanese, western, chocolate fondue, fresh fruit juices (strongly recommended the grapes juice) only a minor issue - most staff speaks only japanese

I think is worst hotel room in townThis hotel room and the toilet are very small, and have smell. Too small and feels dirty. I don't like this hotel at all. The guide bring us here so I don't know about this hotel. If you like to be clean you can't stay here for sure because this really makes you uncomfortable. Some more, there is only wifi at the ground floor. This is really inconvenient for the tourists like us. But the staffs are nice.

the WORSTThe photos offered looked better than actual. The rooms were run down and poorly maintained. Lights didn't work, wallpaper was stained and peeling, rooms smelled mildew and the futon bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Our room had none of the amenities seen in brochure. The traditional dinner and breakfast looked amazing but offer no substance and we were hungry. Would have been better off with regular breakfast. Our room was on the second floor and after the elevator we had to climb a flight of stairs.
