  COVID getaway

  After 70 days of quarantining at home with my wife and 2 adult children I decided it was time to get away from Illinois. We stopped here for the first night. The hotel is convenient to I94, but a little confusing to find the entrance. We checked in just before 7pm, there were about 5 trucks/SUVs total in the parking lot. The front desk has been reconfigured with shielding and hand sanitizer. I wore a mask, the clerk did not. Check in was otherwise average. The hotel is very clean and well maintained as is typical of Hampton Inns. There was another hand sanitizing station at the entrance to the elevators. The room included smoke detector, sprinkler, digital thermostat and 2 queen beds separated by a shelf with phone, alarm clock, and power outlet including USB ports. A mirror door slides to provide access to either the closet or the bathroom; it doesnt lock. The bathroom has a tub with shower and curtain, toilet and a single sink. The closet has an iron and ironing board, no safe. The room has 2 desks and a raised TV counter along the wall facing the beds. One desk has a desk lamp, mirror, and small wastebasket; both have power outlets with USB. One has a desk chair, the other has 2 footstools you can sit upon. Under the flat screen TV is a refrigerator (no freezer), microwave, and a cabinet with baskets where we put our board games. There is no dresser. Because of the uncertainty around the pandemic we brought food to avoid relying on restaurants. It took quite a while (over 25 minutes) to warm up the frozen rice dish we had prepared at home. 3 of us sat at the desks and 1 on the bed to enjoy dinner, then we all sat on one bed to play cards after supper. Hampton suspended the hot breakfast during the pandemic but the ice machine, single serve coffee machine with fixings, and brown bag breakfasts are still available; there is also an Einstein bagels across the parking lot. Hilton has a video on their website with the CEO talking about check in from your phone and sealed rooms: that is just a myth at this location.

  Excellent!!

  This hotel is excellent. Great staff, clean rooms, & perfect location. The hotel looks brand new because everything is so clean and staff is super hopeful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

  Very Nice

  Very clean hotel with great check in. No one to be found to check out, so thankful we could check out online. They were out of coffee as well. Still, a nice hotel and probably would stay again. They just have some bugs to work out.

  Excellent hotel choice!

  Came here for one night on a Thursday. We had room 327 and it was a nice large room for the 3 of us. The TV is nice and large, the bathroom is huge for a hotel with neat barn door, the shower is nice, the staff is friendly and helpful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  Unbelievable

  Well, if you check on my posts you will see I have traveled quite a bit and not much surprises me or shocks me with a hotel, until now. When I stay at a hotel, wether the Savoy in London, the Intercon in Geneva or DC I appreciate service. The hotel sets the price and I like to have basic services. When I checked in for a several night stay I could not believe I was asked if I wanted to have my room serviced while I was here. The clerk said they could give out towels at the desk but he would need to write in his book if I wanted the room cleaned or made up while I was staying. I could not believe a hotel would even ask that question, that is basic service, what has happed to this industry, do as little as possible and make as much money as possible. I told him that I did wont to have my bed made each day while here and he seemed to have an issue with that and went on to talk about towels that he uses at home not changing after each use and that he would use them several times. Again I think when paying for a hotel room it includes service each day, not some excuse on to clean or calling as many maids, If they use Covid for a reason then why the signs in the bathroom? Is this the way of the future, I hope not. I hope this hotel chain will re-evauate basic service.
