    Scenery Beautiful.

    Went to this hotel as it was close to our college granddaughters. They were able to come and stay with us. We had a great time being shown around the area by them. It was also close to the local,airport but was not bothered by the small planes coming in.

    Overall summary of visits from 2015-2020 with SHARON JONES EMPLOYEE

    My son was a Men's Basketball Player for Liberty University from 2015-2020. We came up for MANY home games and other times during his years there and always booked our stay at your hotel under my fathers name (Eugene Freshly). We had most of our experiences with your exemplary employee SHARON JONES over our 5 year experience. I personally have worked in the customer service industry and have met very few people who have reached the level of excellence on a regular basis that Sharon was able to do on a constant basis. She constantly greeted us with a welcoming smile, remembering who we were while there, the reason for our visit and took interest in how my son's college career was going. For your organization to have such a caring, compassionate and amazing employee who constantly goes above and beyond to make her customers feel welcome and comfortable is more than going beyond the extra mile. We truly appreciate her. We even brought family to the hotel from SC, OH, MT, and PA and she treated them with the same professionalism and caring that I knew she would come through with. She is our favorite. Please be sure she is recognized for her outstanding work and not only what is expected but for also going above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome away from home!

    Poor Covid Precautions. AM reception NO Mask / Gloves

    The basic review of this hotel would be 4 stars. As far as the accommodation they were fine for a typical Hampton Inn. If you travel enough you understand that. It's a fine to good business stay. ***I stayed at this hotel for business the night of Monday 7/27. As far as the weird new world we live in regarding Covid-19, upon checking in, everything passed the "smell test." Signs about masks on the door. Hand sanitizer near by. Person checking me in wore a mask and the person that was there in the evening wore a mask. Most of the guests hanging around were not wearing masks, but I fully appreciate and understand this challenges for business in this regard and didn't judge the hotel/employees too much about this. The big issue was the morning of Tuesday 7/28. I got down to the lobby around 6:15a. The working reception was not wearing a mask at all. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It was early and there were no other guests there. I thought: "OK, I probably would have taken a mask break too if there was nobody around." I spent 20 mins in the lobby, getting my day started, coffee, and a granola bar they had out in place of the traditional Hampton breakfast. The guy at reception spoke to me three times with the typical "hello / hope you enjoyed your stay / etc. At no time did he put on a mask. Then, after I filled up my coffee mug, he began servicing the coffee area and snack area....again, with no masks and no gloves. This is absolutely unacceptable. I'm not mask crazy. In big open areas, places you can social distance, around people you trust, I don't see a need for a mask. However, at this point in where we are at in the world, I expect a hotel employee to always be wearing a mask. It doesn't make me feel as comfortable as a "home away from home" isn't caring about their guests health and needs. In Virginia all business are supposed to wear masks. I've seen that Hilton deems masks from its' employees and franchises. This is not OK. I tried to be fair to this Hampton Inn. Before I wrote this I emailed the hotel GM Tara Ogle asking for her response. That was Tuesday night. 4 days later and no response I am publicly giving my review. I will not be staying at this hotel again and because of Hampton's independence I will think twice about staying at that Hilton brand again.

    Abusive, Potentially Racist Staff

    Tried to extend the stay due to exhaustion from an overnight trip to the ER and subsequent medications. At check-out time in the morning, while boyfriend was at the front desk, discussing this with the staff, another member of staff called the room SIX TIMES. Made way downstairs -- with difficulty -- and asked what the emergency was. Was told that there was "no way" we could afford one more night, because "it was a suite." For reference, Person of Color with an obviously brown last name. I can understand denying an extension request due to overbooking, but not because the hotel staff assumes brown skin = lack of funds. Disgusting.

    Great stay

    I had a great one night stay. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The check-in went smoothly and everyone was friendly. The hotel is right next to Chili's, and they offer a discount if you show your room key.
