    One night stay

Front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Got to my room and was very clean. Nice amenities. Great big TV with ample channels. Comfy room with sofa. Nice desk area. Overall very satisfied and if I have to be here in town again I would definitely stay here again.

    The hotel is aging fast

When they first opened I would call this a 4 star review. We have stayed here many times while our daughter attended Sam Houston. This latest visit may be our last. Quality and cleanliness is not important to them apparently. I could see from the start that the hall and elevator had not been vacuumed, yet they claim to have stringent Covid 19 cleaning standards. The room was okay, but the furnishings are already showing wear. The toilet paper holder was missing from the bathroom and the vinyl tiles on the floor were starting to peel up. The AC used to be controlled from the wall but that no longer worked. Seems like it's controlled from the unit under the window now. Even though I set it to 65 it struggled to keep the humidity in check. I went for ice and found two of the floor's ice machines inoperative. There was a pile of trash in one of the ice machine rooms that stunk. No one is here to empty the trash. Breakfast is now pathetic. They only had light roast coffee and and it was lukeward and ran out. Could not find any kitchen staff. No hot items for breakfast, just some cereal, oatmeal, and a few pieces of bread for toast. This location is in dire need of new management.

No masks at breakfast in buffet line and staff not telling guests to wear them

I was shocked that most guests were NOT wearing masks at this location - especially at the breakfast buffet line. I complained to Hilton directly and they did respond and apologize. The staff were wearing masks. The GM for the hotel did write an email to me to apologize but I'm not sure he completely understands the risk that guests experienced during breakfast. We left the hotel to get food and did not eat in the buffet area. They also did a poor job of having enough food out for guests - at 9:15am there were no eggs in the service line and the girl in the kitchen said she did not want to waste food - she did fix more after I complained to the front desk. Breakfast is supposed to be served and ready til 10am. There was a baby shower the afternoon we arrived and no one was wearing masks and the staff were not telling guests to wear masks even though there were signs up and it is a state wide mandate in Texas. Not sure we will stay here again when there is a Fairfield inn next door and I'm a long time Hilton Honors member...

Poor customers service by night employee

Pros: clean room only when we checked in, no sight of housekeeping untill we left. Convenient location Cons: Keep anything you dont want stolen in your car when you leave! Had a bottle or rum go missing. Not surprisingly not one employee knows a thing. Didnt clean a room but untill we left but my alcohol goes missing! The damn hotel is located behind a liquor store, go buy your own, dont steal mine. When we checked in, not pleased. Poor customer service by night attendant. Also they were Not enforcing mask policy, many people not wearing masks. Even though the hotels can now operate at 75% capacity, we still had yo ask for more towels, housekeeping did not clean our room while we were there. Slow draining sink. Shower head needs descaled . Some work needs done to the floors, ours shook slightly when stepping in certain areas and we could hear the neighbor stomping around. Of course the night employee, either russian or middle eastern, i use this description because he didnt have a name tag or tell us his name. He favorite lines were "swipe your card" and "manager be here in morning". Will not be back!

My preferred hotel in town except during hurricanes

I like this hotel. The staff is kind and caring. I've even stayed with 4 elderly people and the staff was so good to everyone and worked hard to get us rooms close together. I have stayed here often and it's always clean. The only complaint I've ever had is that I visited my daughter, who goes to school there, during one of the hurricanes and since so many go this direction from the coast they jack up the price by at least double each time. Which in my opinion is so very wrong! They sell out so it's not like they need the extra money. It's not just this hotel though. All of them did it. I was do desperate for a place I tried the Motel 6 which I'd NEVER say otherwise and even it was $120 per night. Which is about double theirs too. I won't pay that much for a hotel I'd not stay in otherwise. So, I stayed with my daughter. Wasn't comfortable but it was clean. lol
