    Wonderful stay

We spent 3 nights here and we enjoyed it. The pool and Jacuzzi was next to us on first floor so it was very coinvent to use. Our room was clean with a big 40" tv. Breakfast during covit19 is just a brown bag with a fruit, a muffin, a snack bar, a tiny bottle of water and if your lucky, you might get a bagel, some eggs with cream cheese. Free laundry. Free parking. No resort fee like the downtown Key West hotels. Sombrero beach, Horseshoe beach and Bahia Honda State park are nearby. We would highly recommend this hotel.

    Middle of the Keys

This hotel is located right on US 1 and across the street from the Gulf. Its a small 2 story property, outdoor pool with a tiki bar and a little dock area with a few seats overlooking a channel. The lobby is very large and inviting decorated in a beach theme. The rooms are cozy, nothing fancy. The air conditioning unit in the room was very loud. The room doors are very heavy so they slam loud. The parking lot and grounds are well lit. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately the hallways smelled like smoke and alcohol. The outside grounds do need some care. Many trash cans were overflowing. The fitness center is outside next to the pool so no staff member can keep an eye on it. Little kids were fooling around in there playing with water cups. Cant say we would stay again.

    Will not return.

Poor service. Staff is not friendly. Very expensive. Stay at a family run motel before here. Im tired of hearing we are doing this for your safety. Only providing two pool towels and making gusts empty their own trash is not for my safety.

    From 4 stars to 3

Spent a week here last March and gave the hotel 4 stars. Cannot do that this year. First things first. If you are looking for a functional mid- Keys Hilton property-this is it. You are an hour from Key West/Duval Street (in good traffic) and about 2 hours to Miami. The best beach in the Keys (IMHO) is Sombrero Beach about a 10 minute drive away. You have a very nice and walkable open air restaurant across the street that you could eat at for lunch or dinner each day and the pool is excellent (get your chairs early like most hotels) if you just want to hang out. You are on an inlet and can kind of see it from the hotel property (but you don't have a room view). The rooms are your typical beachy hotel room. Never properly cleaned (the linens, beds and towels are fine) but you put up with it. The rooms are small but do have a cabinet kitchen in the entry (small sink, microwave and small refrigerator). There is a free laundry which is great after a day at the beach. The AC is ok-not great. My issues between this year and last year are mostly the staff. They seem to be going through the motions. They are somewhat helpful if you approach them but will ignore you otherwise. They seem to have resigned themselves to the fact that since guests have to handle some of the things staff used to they can hide in the back room. I am good with emptying my own trash and exchanging towels and going to the front desk for TP etc. I am not high maintenance so those things don't bother me like some other reviewers. I don't need daily cleaning-never have. The effort is the big thing for me. The fact that there is still no breakfast other than the breakfast bags a year into the pandemic is a good example of the lack of effort. When i inquired about this the manger told me MOST Hilton properties still are utilizing ONLY the breakfast bags. I countered with the fact that I am a ten year diamond and on the road weekly and have not encountered a single Hilton property that did not make an effort to put out some kind of breakfast since mid- July, in fact about half have returned to a hot breakfast. When I said this she stammered and tried to make more excuses like low occupancy, COVID, etc.. I was not trying to provoke a debate-just felt like they could do better, but apparently management is going to do what is best for them. It is interesting that they SELL food (including breakfast) products that they used to provide but don't put them out for breakfast for guests. Seriously, you couldn't put out some cereals and milk? I get times are tough but occupancy was very full during my stay (judging by the cars in the lot) and the rate doesn't seem to have gone down much from last year. I get all the challenges- I do. But I also think some people use the pandemic as a convenient excuse to be mediocre. OK, I got that off my chest. Would I stay here again? Yes, as I mentioned in my opening. We are loyal Hilton people and the mid-Key location and proximity to Miami and Key West is the selling point. Just don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed.
