    Attempted to book a block of rooms

    Terrible customer service. I called twice and spoke with the same lady at the front desk both times. I explained I needed to reserve a block of rooms for a wedding. Both times she told me the lady in charge of that was very busy and had several people ahead of me on the list and she couldnt tell me when I would get a return call. Only that she would get to me when she could. Now its been 5 days and no one has called back. She did not seem like she cared or wanted to help. I called another hotel and in less than 24 hours I had all 13 rooms booked and the customer service I received at the other hotel has been amazing. They are going above and beyond to make sure our needs are met. And it looks like we will need even more rooms than expected, so Hampton Inn lost a lot of business. I would never stay at this hotel knowing how little they value guests.

    Pretty standard Hampton

    ThIs hotel is a pretty standard Hampton Inn so you have a good idea what to expect. The Covid protocols seem good and appropriate. Room was cleam. The simplified bag breakfast was satisfactory. Only oddity was our room had no microwave. Not a big deal but a surprise. The modular furniture in the room is simple but functional. Staff was satisfactory. I would stay here again.

    All I expect from Hilton brands less Covid restrictions.

    Ive found that all kinds of businesses are exploiting Covid-19 as reason to take value from the customer. Many of their actions very obviously dont prevent the spread of viruses, nor help keep anyone safer. Its just a reason to give the customer less for the same amount of money, or to charge them more, even though their costs have not increased. This property is certainly not exempt from that. Free breakfast with your room has all but become history, and I didnt even ask about it at this property because I left at 5:30 AM. But, theres a big sign on the door stating they wont clean your room until you leave if youre a stay-over. For years now they dont want to wash your towels every day, and thats for virtually all brands. But, all this sanitation is taking things a bit too far, especially since Im paying for a premium brand thats supposed to include all those services. If I didnt want those services I would pick a much less expensive brand. I used to live with a Hiltons mystery shopper/inspector, and I know they have very rigid standards to live by. Outside of the take-backs claimed by Covid this property is in very good condition. Everything in the room worked right except for the room door which would not shut (104). I had to be certain to yank on the thing to make sure the lock actually caught. One rather odd idiosyncrasy is the sale of sodas in their pantry for more than the vending machine down the hall charges. Thats weird; they are competing with themselves. The lady who checked me in was most accommodating, even though they didnt have a room ready when promised. A half-hour later they had it ready, which was good enough. The common areas and the grounds were in perfect condition, and sparkling clean. My bathroom was well stocked with very good towels, and soap, and the bedding condition was great. I do love the Neutrogena instead of the liquid soap being offered by that other brand. Liquid soaps are nothing more than a cheap shot, and another way to take value away from the customer. I hope this nation can get over Covid and life can return to some facsimile of normal. I would recommend this property and likely will use them again. There are lots of food choices within walking distance of this property as well as shopping from Home Depot and Wal Mart.

    Solid Hampton Property

    Clean and conveniently located just off the main east/west highway through Brownwood, which doesnt have a lot of choices. Much has been made of the grab and go breakfast but it was filling in a pinch and for those who want alternatives youre a stones throw from a Whataburger and a Starbucks.

    Different

    Stayed one night, Friday, March 12, 2021. Room layout different than other Hamptons we have stayed in. Must be the new style which is not bad. There is now a small sink with a mirror inside the room for the coffee machine, no tea. The closet is located next to the bed. Lights are brighter in the bathroom. Room is still spacious and comfortable. We appreciate the clean stay guarantee and hope continues. We had the need to use the printer in the business center which was nice. The largest issue with our stay was the elevator. We used the stairs from the third which is okay if you are not carrying luggage. Elevator was not working properly and not dependable. The lobby area did not offer coffee or tea nor for breakfast either or any juices. Might have had to ask for it at breakfast. Breakfast was grab and go bag with bottled water, packaged muffin, breakfast bar and an orange. There was a couple of package cereals, milk and yogurt. The morning staff person was very nice and was working by himself doing the breakfast maintenance, answering phones and checkouts. He wore a mask as opposed to the lady checking us in. The mask policy posted was that masks should be worn. Location is convenient to main highway and restaurants and retail.
