Lovely little guesthouseStayed here by chance after our original booking at its sister hotel/pub wasnt registered. Lovely little guesthouse. Adrian was so helpful and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Even getting there early to get us a little bit of breakfast before we had to leave. Ok, so if we stayed a few days the lack of a lounge or bar may be a slight negative but location was fab and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely place and excellent hostWe had travelled to Filey for the day, not really knowing if we would stay overnight or not. When we got there, we decided to try this guest house after seeing it online. As expected, there wasnt much left available. We phoned and managed to get the last room. The host was very friendly and accommodating. The room, right at the top, was clean and comfortable, with a nice en suite and tea/ coffee, etc. The location is good, near to the town centre and opposite Tesco. No parking, but we got a space across the road. We had a good nights sleep. Next morning, the cooked breakfast was excellent. A great little place, just for a night, or two. Thank you

Lovely place to stayWe visited Filey on the last weekend of August. We were met at the door by Adrian who was lovely and he helped take our bags upstairs to our room at the top of the house (room 6). After that we were allowed to come and go unobstructed. Breakfast was delicious and the couple couldn't do enough for guests; they really do work hard! Even at the top of the house wifi was good enough to stream Netflix. The shower was hot and powerful too. A lovely place to relax.

I kept on reminding myself it was £30 per nightI stayed at The Hallam last week for a couple of days. I had booked a single room for £30 per night (please refer to this along the way) My allocated room was number 1, half way up the stairs...although clean, the room itself is only suitable for myself and Bilbo Baggins... basically if your a Hobbit then your in luck... (£30) the bathroom was compact... turning around in the shower was a bit like manoeuvring the Amaco Cadiz..it was however, clean and the water was hot..in the morning I was awoken by a 30mins conversation between the owner and a departing guest at 7.30am... 7.30am after 7 pints of ale the night before is not the best..and so down to breakfast... dining room compact but clean... toast bang on, proper bread... however, upon ordering the cooked breakfast it appeared within 2 minutes... unless the owner happens to have Paul Daniels working in the kitchen I have got no idea how it was cooked, although I did hear some pinging going off...on the 2nd day I opted for a toasted bacon sandwich...there were no problems coming and going throughout my stay..overall, I would say that I paid £30 and I got VFM just... however, room 1 is definitely not the best option and so if your planning on staying and you don't live in the Shire chances are it wont be big enough for you.... Filey is lovely and the walk to Scarborough amazing...

Good host but basicWe were met at the door by Adrian who was friendly and showed us to our room. It was on the top floor and compact with only a roof window but it was clean and the bed reasonably comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided with ample supplies. There was a choice of cooked options along with cereal, toast and orange juice. Some fresh fruit would have been a welcome addition. There are no parking facilities available and on street parking is at a premium. We had to park 2 streets away and carry our bags. It is difficult to stop to unload outside the guest house as it has double yellow lines outside and is by a roundabout.
