  Staff was rude and not helpful.

  I was trying to book a birthday weekend get away and checked on pricing and availability at the HMB Lodge. Unfortunately, the reservation staff was very rude and directed me to the hotels website rather than answer my questions. Ultimately the staff told me the hotel was all booked.

  Reasonable Price for a nice Hotel

  Very reasonable price for a nice hotel. Fireplace in room. Nice King Sized Bed. Half mile walk to the Ritz and the beach next to it. 1 mile from Cowell Beach. We loved it. Friendly staff with useful recommendations for dinner. We went Fri/Sat night Labor day. It was 112 in the East Bay and 80 degrees in HMB.

  Great value and excellent service

  We stopped by a couple of hours earlier than the posted check in time and they tried calling housekeeping to see if our room was ready. No one answered so they said they would text us as soon as they could make contact instead of having us wait. We decided to take a short drive down to the beach by the Ritz and were texted before we got there. We returned and our room was ready and they had upgraded us to an end room with a view of the golf course. We asked if they had wine glasses and they said sure, of course, and handed us two to take to the room. The staff was excellent: friendly and customer service oriented. Rooms were cleaned, sanitized, and sealed for the arriving guests.

  Average stay in hotel that is showing its age

  Been here at least three times and seeing the hotel showing its age. Went on a spontaneous visit and was not hard to book during this time. The two of us got a nice corner room overlooking the golf course at the northern most end of the building. Front door open to a parking lot. Straight away you can see the furnishings are old, the TV is small, and blinds and sliding glass door need some repair. Fireplace was missing the wood so we called down and it was taken care of very quickly. Overall, the staff were nice and it's an average stay.

  Basic hotel - quiet and clean

  I wish I could give a 3.5 stars. Stayed at hotel with a child during weekend of February 2021. I asked for a second floor and quiet room and we stayed at a 2-beds room with balcony facing the green backyard. It was quiet and our room was just behind the front desk building. The room was very basic but met our needs. The bathroom sink was low for hotel standards which was great height for my 7 year old. Room had a fridge and Keurig coffee maker. No breakfast was provided (not even to go). A microwave would have been nice to have, as well as some basic utensils like plates, forks, paper towel, etc. even if disposable. They did have disposable water cups and coffee cups, and some packed sugar/creamer. The location was really good and while off Highway 1, we could not hear traffic. We were able to use the pool (barely heated) by booking a slot. Hot tub was closed. We were lucky as no other guests were at the same time (I think they allow 10 people max at a time) since we stayed primarily in the shallow section. If other kids were in the pool, it would had been harder to keep social distance. You get a text message after check-in, and you can use the text feature to communicate with front desk. I used it twice and they were very attentive and quick to respond. For some reason, I could not get my phone to charge in any of the available outlets or using the lamp/light fixture USB port.
