Excellent spa style hotelStayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the Hakone area and couldnt fault this hotel. The hotel has beautiful views over the lake, very modern rooms with all the required amenities and helpful staff. Throughout Japan we used many onsens and this was by far the best! They have a shuttle service you need to book in advance (we struggled to find the hotel contact but eventually succeeded!) if the times dont match up with your trains the bus stops right outside the hotel. The hotel is also right near the ropeway. The food is a daily Japanese buffet for both breakfast and dinner (dinner you need to reserve a time-slot) a little repetitive after the first night but lots of choice (including an ice cream machine!!) No hotel bar but its quite common in Japan but they were fine with us drinking our own wine in the lounge!

I recommend this hotel!I walked into the lobby and felt myself immediately relax! The design of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are extremely helpful. The onsen was well maintained and the outdoor bath was particularly delightful. Do yourself a favor and come hungry to meals--the food is STELLAR!

Beautiful and memorable experience! My mom and I stayed here for one night in mid-December, and one night wasn't enough!! What a beautiful location and our Western-style room was facing the lake and had a private outdoor bath. The room was huge, beautifully furnished and you can tell that everything is sparkling new. I'm super glad we stayed here and highly recommend this hotel for any visitor to Hakone. Logistically it's very easy to get to, a quick 5 minutes walk across the street to the Hakone Ropeway, Cruise and Bus terminal. We caught a bus there easily after check out and eventually traveled to Kawaguchiko. I also like how the hotel made improvements after reading previous customer feedback. Check out time is now at 11:00 AM instead of 10:00 AM, which was very appreciated. I felt that every staff member was super nice, from the lobby staff to the restaurant staff. Breakfast and dinner were both enjoyable, and I personally like the buffet because it allows you to have more choices. The public baths were also very nice and spacious. Looking at previous reviews, the hotel has made big improvements in the last few months, so don't hesitate to stay here!

A New Hotel in a Great Location to Hakone Ropeway/Pirate CruisePros : + The location: Hotel is situated 3 minutes away by foot to Togendai Ropeway station and the cruiseship port (to get to Motohakone and Hakonemachi). We managed to get a view of Mt Fuji from Motohakone, though bad weather would mean that there is no view of the mountain. + The room: very clean, comfortable beds, great pillows. They also have a set of pyjamas and yukatas you can wear to the dining area or the onsen. + Hotel dining: breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style. Though a bit skeptical about the quality of buffet food, we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the foods. Family favourites of the dinner include beef steaks, black cod, sashimi and the seafood pasta. Highlights of breakfast include croissants (they make them fresh every 30 minutes or so), seasoned rice, tamagoyaki, and natto! If you stay for more than 1 night, one advice would be don't stuff yourself with so much food on your first meal, because you will get to see them the next day. + Hot bath or onsen: the space feels new and clean. The onsen is quite big so you don't have to worry about crowding. + great view overlooking Lake Ashi from the lobby area and extended lobby area where the foot bath is (so comforting especially during winter time) and also there is a nice seating area (circle shape, in the centre of a pool) behind the lobby window which becomes a favorite photo spot (see the attached picture). Cons: - Lack of amenities: during the day time, food options can be quite limited because there are not many options near the hotel (aside from a couple of soba places and 1 curry house). However, if you do travel (by bus or car) to Motohakone or surrounding neighborhoods there are plenty options. - Check-in/Check-out times are very strict: make sure you plan ahead -Hotel shuttle was just useless during our stay because all slots were fully booked. Perhaps, best way to go is book way in advance e.g. 1 month before. Overall, the stay was very enjoyable and wish we could have stayed a bit longer before experiencing the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.
