Privileged to stay at Hakkoda Hotel

My partner and I were lucky enough to spend two nights staying at the Hakkoda Resort Hotel while spending our days skiing through the amazing powder at Hakkoda. Loved the hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, going out of their way to make our stay as amazing as it was. The traditional Japanese dinners each night were delicious and plentiful after a day on the mountain, and the onsen a perfect way to relieve our sore legs! Breakfast was a great mix of Japanese and continental style. Comfy, warm traditional Japanese style rooms with a stunning outlook. We will definitely be back in years to come, is a really special place to ski and stay.

    A trip to heaven

This is our last night of the three nights we had booked at Hakkoda hotel skeptically. First time to Japan and the prime purpose was to experience snowfall. We were picked up by the hotel van(for a charge) at Shin Aomori station at 16.45..driver was waiting for us right at the exit of JR gates. It took us about 45 minutes and we were checked in to a family room in basement floor. First impressions of the room were not great, but as we realized the facilities, the view and the coziness, we felt more and more comfortable. The family room had two large single beds, living room, kitchen, two toilets, dressing area, one bathroom, two bunk beds, tea coffee machine with pods, hot and cold water dispensers, humidifier and a balcony for the amazing view. At first we felt the F&B department was a sham and they were cheating us by charging us more than what they have on the menu, but slowly it grew upon us. They have a Japanese and a French restaurant and both are amazing. Our skepticism faded away slowly. How many hotels serve delicious food at such heights ? Well, Hakkoda hotel does. You get to eat sumptuous French and Japanese cousine on the middle of snow clad mountains. What else do you need. Then there is a hot water spring bath that takes away all your pains and itches. We went for a short trip to the rope way today, where you can also ski and snowboard. It was full of skiing enthusiasts and hotel will drop and pick up complementary. The front office staff is amazing and most of the women on the job are English speaking and they treat you very well. Precisely - Hakkoda hotel is worth every single penny you spend. Its expensive and value for money at the same time. Must visit I say !

    Amazing Food and Service

The Hakkoda Hotel is located about 10 min drive from the Ropeway but there is a 24 hour on demand shuttle so it's not a hassle at all. The hotel is great - a rustic log cabin. Rooms are spacious. A very nice on-site onsen. However, the highlight is definitely the food. Both the French Restaurant and the Japanese service amazing degustation type meals that were high quality with impeccable service. The wine list was definitely worth a look. The staff were all attentive, friendly and went out of their way. We'll definitely be back..

    Simply Superb!

We stayed 3 nights and this hotel exceeded our expectations time and time again. Funny enough we accidentally booked the wrong hotel - but what a fabulous error it was! The staff should be congratulated - they did everything to assist us and were exceptionally professional and friendly. The food was also superb. If you get a chance to dine on a French night, take the opportunity - the meal was a highlight. We came for the snow but will definitely come back again for the hotel experience - onsen, staff, hotel room, food could not be faulted. If we could give it ten stars we would. We will be back!

    Neglect and lack of empathy.

When half our group were lost on the mountain during the evening, requiring emergency assistance to be extracted, hotel staff refused to keep pre-paid dinner aside for even an extra half-hour past official dinner times so that they could eat. No other food was made available, not even tea or hot water offered on their return with police. Staff displayed a complete lack of care or basic human empathy towards a group who had endured hours of trekking after dark to safety through waist-high snow. Incomprehensible neglect of basic duty of care.
