Beautiful Setting - Amazing Staff! This was our first trip to Guadeloupe and I am so happy we chose this property! The grounds are a beautiful tropical garden and the view from our room was spectacular. If you are looking for fancy, this is not a resort, but the rooms are large and clean and the property is walking distance to the beautiful Plage Grand Anse. The pool and restaurant area are very pretty and well maintained. If you are up for the climb, I would recommend the rooms up the hill as the views are amazing - however, the hike up might not be so much fun with small children. But what really sets this hotel apart is the care and concern of the staff. We had a flat tire on our rental car and received no help from the rental agency. The manager Claudio located a compressor and helped my husband fill the tire so that we could go out to dinner. He then gave us his personal cell number in case it went flat again and we got stranded in town. Unfortunately, it was flat after dinner. The town of Deshaies is pretty quiet and small, so with no options, we called Claudio. He was there within 5 minutes to help us make it back to the hotel. And the next day he arranged for us to get help at a nearby repair shop. My French is a bit rusty, and we could not have done this without his assistance. The day before we were preparing to leave, we still had issues with our flight reservation with Air Antilles that Expedia had not been able to resolve. The lovely woman attending the front desk was able to confirm our flights and relieve our concerns.I would sincerely recommend this lovely property. My limited French was sufficient for ordering in local restaurants, although fair warning, some residents may give you a bit of the cold shoulder. I would not recommend visiting without at least a bit of conversational French.

Great locationGood service, nice terrace with kitchen and with higher apartments also view to the sea. Bit outdated rooms and bit dark. Slow and weak WiFi, but that is everywhere on the island. Great location and personnel helpful. Restaurant is not worth for visiting. Drinks are good but expensive.

Quite nice, but not top notchStaff was always friendly. The breakfast was excellent, served on the terrace overlookinght the pool (breakfast was optional and relatively expensive). We had an apartment with a beautiful sea view from our private terrace with kitchen (yes, kitchens in Guadeloupe are often located outside the flat). The apartment as such needed renovation. The walls, bathrooms, furniture, kitchen equipment was clearly worn down and not up to the general standard of the accomodation. The apartment was located up a steep hill from the reception; there is no wi-fi in the apartment, only near the reception building. The beach is relatively near (5min walk), the pool is big enough and not overcrowded (hardly ever saw people using it, but it is available throughout the day and cleaned on a daily basis). Compared to the overall standard, prices are too high.

Need good condition to accomodate here.A fair 3 stars self service/catering hotel. This means cleaning and change towels once at 4 days only, but you have a fully equipped kitchen if you need this. No reception after 21:00. The room are on a hill and you need really good condition to climb to your room every day and very difficult with baggage, because you can not get your door room by car. The resort restaurant offer just breakfast (not included. 14,5 eur/day) and dinner, no lunch. Even if stated with wifi, not at all nowhere, not even at reception. No pool towels. 10 min. walk to a very good beach (Grand Anse).

Perfect for Death in ParadiseIf you like watching "Death in Paradise" this is the perfect place to stay, It is about 5 mins drive to Deshaies town, where the series is set, and Plage Grande Anse, a beautiful beach, is 5 mins walk away and when we were there (Feb 2020) there was an exhibition area on the beach with the Land Rover and motor bike from the series along with costumes, props and scripts, and one of the location managers who was very happy to chat all day. The accommodation as a "self catering hotel" was a new experience for us but perfect for the location. Our bedroom had a kitchen with fridge, 2 ring electric hob on the balcony so we could do all our own cooking, or eat in the excellent restaurant. Breakfast which was high quality is available every day and evening meal every day except Wednesday. The food is expensive. We stayed 13 nights and had one breakfast and three evening meals. There is a very basic supermarket 5 mins walk away which has fresh bread every morning (gone by 9am). There are several food outlets there too, open in the daytime. Deshaies has better supermarkets, cash point and of course you can have a drink at "Catherine's Bar" (actually called Madras). .Some reviewers have described the accommodation as basic. In some senses it is, but the beds wre very comfortable, it was spacious and clean and the excellent air conditioning meant we always had a good night's sleep. In such a beautiful setting what more could you ask for?
