  Very good bed and great sleep!

  Very friendly staff at reception! Heartfelt, goodwill to help and I got the room ahead of time. Very good breakfast. Kind service. Very good bed and great sleep! Beautiful view from the high floor. Good parking for free! Good location It's easy to go hiking in the area. There are beautiful gardens I will be back to the hotel again on my next trip!

  Love this place

  Stunningly beautiful building with quirky thoughtful interior design. Fantastic breakfast, billiard room and connected to a fantastic spa. Situated right next to the town and a great park. On top of this its just a short hop to Vienna by tram, train or car. Highly recommended!

  Was Not Impressed This Time...

  This hotel greatly impressed me before, reason why I kept coming back and recommending it to family, friends and colleagues. Its proximity to Vienna where we live is very ideal, easily reachable with car or even public transport. Their rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean; the quality of service and breakfast is very satisfying; plus the amenities that come along like unlimited entry to the Römer Thermal Bath & Spa is fantastic! However, our visit this time was disappointing, it was below their usual "par excellence". EXCEPT for the lady receptionist who remains most friendly and efficient, things have deteriorated in a short span of time from our last visit in autumn last year 2019! My family and I occupied 3 rooms: No. 105 (Double Room) No. 216 (Double Room) No. 211 (2 Bedroom Family Suite) To our surprise after entering our room (211) we found dirty towels left behind by previous guests hanging by the heater in the bathroom. This we reported immediately and the housekeeping took it away. The next morning at breakfast, we noticed how dull it has become in comparison to our previous visits where specialties offered on the buffet were very delightful. I remember bragging to family and friends how good it was, that they should all try to come to Villa Gutenbrunn Hotel even for just a weekend! Now it is just simply boring, plus the chubby lady breakfast attendant was unfriendly, if not outright rude. The next that followed was sheer horror! As my sister returned to her room in the family suite 211, she wanted to use the dresser and was dismayed to find a male's used underwear left lying on the chair underneath the dressing table. She reported this again at once but when we returned, the beds have been made but that eyesore (underwear) was still on the chair of the dresser!!! This is totally unacceptable, it's disgusting!!! This only further proves the gross negligence of their housekeeping team who failed miserably in doing their job properly especially in this time of Covid19 where the Austrian government requires such establishments to exert extra effort and attention for the health and safety of their guests!!! I wish I can say that I will return to this hotel, one that I used to enjoy and love dearly! But after our recent experience, I don't know if my family and I ever will...!!!

  Did not return the deposit: be careful

  According to the conditions of my booking, free cancelation is guaranteed till 30 days prior to arrival. In March it became obvious that the situation with COVID-19 was worsening, so I decided to cancel my booking long before the deadline (July 2020). To do so, I tried to use my personal area on the website of the hotel. I sent six notifications (the first time I sent my notification about the cancellation of my booking on March 15 and the last time on June 03. The same day I received a notification that my booking is cancelled. On June 05, I sent an email in which I asked about returning the deposit but received no answer. Then I repeated the attempt on June 23, but all in vain. Im very upset that the hotel with such a reputation as yours demonstrates such an attitude towards its customers. It took the hotel less than 24 hours to take my money and over SIX months to refuse to return the deposit...and still refusing to communicate the issue.

  Nice hotel with very whimsical decor

  The Gutenbrunn has a great location for theater, concert or the Römertherme (entry included for hotel guests). The staff was nice, the rooms big & clean. The whole decor of this old castle is great, very whimsical as you can see in the pictures. Breakfast is buffet style with (at the moment) everyone having to wear masks when getting food & beverages and using tongs to take stuff. The variety is good and the room is amazing (old ballroom?). A *big minus* was the bed which was too soft - a thick topper that gave no support, you just sink in and the pillows are pretty lumpy. Not for people who have to look out for their necks & backs. The TV was also mounted in a 90° angle to the bed which made it impossible to use.
