Staff that are willing to go the extra mile!My husband and I had our first "getaway" in over a year at the beginning of March 2021. Special KUDOS to Celena - the BEST massage I have had in over 10 years. The front desk, kitchen, housekeeping and wait staff are the BEST. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was very uneven - especially breakfasts. Eggs were undercooked and toast was burnt on one side and raw on the other. We ordered filets medium and they arrived Medium Well. We also noticed that there was a lack of variety in activities for families with children. Daily hikes were more geared to adults and not as engaging. Additional arts & crafts, sing a longs and other "kid friendly" activities would be well received. Our cabin was well maintained and cozy - as well as trails throughout the property.

NICE FACILITIES AND SERVICESStayed in two-bedroom cabin with my wife for five nights. Kitchen had all the necessities; rooms spacious; daily service according to request form hung on doorknob each day. We set up card tables next to each other in living room and painted together with view out window and cozy gas fire in fireplace. COVID-precautions appropriate. Staff all wore masks. Got breakfast to-go from restaurant each day. Ate dinner at restaurant one night, early, before many others showed up. Crostini was simple and superb; walleye perfectly prepared, even potatoes were roasted to perfection. Chef came out and chatted. After dinner, we sat outside by a campfire, then hiked on trail with LED lights strung alongside to light the way. Not much snow, but enough to take advantage of a few ski trails in impressive network available. Some trails dog-friendly, though staff wasn't all on same page about this. Used sauna off bathroom three times. Came up to temp quickly. Comfortable and relaxing. Nice benefit. Jets in bathtub didn't work. Got a 75-minute massage that was superb. I highly recommend. Aroma therapy, warm oil, strong fingers, and skilled technique. Spent an hour at a watercolor painting class. Nice. Variety of free, programmed activities daily, though we didn't take advantage of very many. Spent an afternoon ice fishing with Jason. Caught a nice two-pound lake trout that we fried for dinner, though Jason said the chef would be happy ti prepare for us uf we wanted. Learned a lot about fishing for lake trout in winter, and my wife and I both enjoyed swapping stories with him. Also highly recommended. What would I change? Not much. Probably should have asked for treatment of icy entrance to cabin from roof drip. The night we arrived, receptionist seemed to think her directions were obvious when they were not.

Beautiful location. Activities year round. We initially booked a mushing vacation. Sadly the weather conditions got too warm and they stopped running the dogs. We still enjoyed our stay. The area is beautiful. We did much hiking, took an ATV ride around the lake with a great guide named Jason and hiked to a hidden frozen waterfall, relaxed in front of the fire with our dog (they have dog friendly rooms), and ate at the Lodge. There were snowmobiles, cross country skis, and snowshoes available. Our cabin was unit 20 - a one bedroom with kitchenette and fireplace. It was spotless on arrival (less so when we left due to melting snow and muddy paws). It had everything we needed with covid conscious protocols in place. We felt covid safe at all times. The lodge has a fairly large gift shop, a bar and restaurant. The food is really good and very large portions for the price. Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend. We want to come back in summer for the horseback riding and time on the lake.

Beautiful location and some wonderful staffWe just returned from a Spring Break Girls trip. My friend and I brought our 5 daughters ranging from 10-17 years old. This was the perfect location to unwind, recharge and enjoy nature. We took two long hikes each day and ate some wonderful meals in the lodge. Having our own kitchen gave us the opportunity to cook some of our own meals as well. Our cabin was perfect for our group. We were all able to spread out and relax. When we needed to, we were able to join together for meals, games and movies by the fireplace. The hot tub and sauna were awesome and well maintained. I have two complaints/suggestions: Housekeeping was supposed to pick up/view the request card every day by 10 and drop off supplies later in the day. When we arrived on Monday, our outside tub still contained the recycling and dirty dishrags from the previous occupants. These were not picked up or emptied until Wednesday. The woman in charge of housekeeping was embarrassed and extremely apologetic. However, when we went to the front desk on Tuesday morning to relay our requests for toilet paper, etc. the front desk manager in the morning was able to provide for our immediate needs and took down notes for Housekeeping to address our needs for more towels. We assumed that all would be taken care of by the afternoon. Later that evening when we returned to the front desk because nothing had been emptied from the tub or brought to our cabin, the 2nd shift front-desk clerk was not helpful or apologetic. She brushed us off by saying there was nothing she could do because Housekeeping staff had already left for the day. We still needed towels and were down to 1 roll of toilet paper for 7 people! My other suggestion would be to do some minor upkeep to the cabins during your off-season. The cabins are cozy and comfortable, but are showing some wear and tear from the heavy traffic and use they have been seeing. Ceiling fans need a good dusting, windows need washing and walls need some repainting. That being said, we enjoyed our visit and came into contact with some very friendly and well-trained, informed staff. Naturalist John was great! I highly recommend any and all hikes led by him. We learned so much! The staff in the restaurant are friendly and seem to enjoy conversing with customers. The chef was top-notch! Everything we ate in the lodge was amazing! The entire resort gives off a very special vibe. Everyone one we encountered from other cabins was friendly and excited to engage with people about their experiences. Something good is happening when people feel relaxed and willing to talk to new people. You have a great place! Thank you.
