Our Home Away From Home: Tranquility, beauty, nature, home cooking, & caring owners.Over the past three years my husband and I have stayed at Guinzano a number of times while in Umbria. My husband discovered this gem because he liked the name of the nearby historic town - Gubbio. We wanted to be in the countryside to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. What we found was a wonderful family run business that welcomed us and has since become our "home away from home" when in Umbria. The setting is beautiful and offers easy access to Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, and any other areas of Umbria along with southeast Tuscany - Cortona is a very easy day trip. If you are looking for the Italy off the tourist route, you will find a very warm welcome and wonderful regional cooking at Guinzano.

Relaxing stayIt was a relaxing stay for our family of 5. The rooms are very nice. My daughters enjoyed playing with the kittens and dogs, seeing the chickens and ducks, and relaxing in the hammocks. It was fun for my daughters to work in the kitchen with Stefano in his cooking class and learn from him how to make yummy food. The food is good - their own beef, eggs, chicken, duck, honey, olive oil, jams, walnuts, and fruits along with their neighbors' lamb, pork, cheeses, and cured meats. We especially enjoyed the pasta with truffles. It's well worth the drive down the gravel path to stay here, eat great food, and relax!

Nice haven of tranquility at the end of the world...It takes a bit of an effort to get to the end of the world. Ask the Vikings... they've tried it too... :-) But once you get there, you're immersed in a superb landscape, and you're hosted in a beautiful auberge. Daniela and Stefano are wonderful hosts and make you really feel at home. The rooms are beautiful and offer spectacular views on the surrounding hills and valleys. Just as important is the more than excellent restaurant, offering delightful dishes, prepared with much love by Stefano. You get plenty of information and tips from Daniela to make your stay more pleasant and enriching. Last but not least, stating that Umbria is a truly wonderful region would be an understatement. It's definitely our favorite region in Italy.

A piece of heaven at the end of the worldGuinzano is an amazing experience. Several kilometres at the end of a dirt track (interesting in our Fiat Panda!) you are surrounded by stunning Umbrian scenery, peace and tranquility. The owners are passionate about Umbria and slow food and the meal and wine was of very high quality. Homemade liqueur, a giant steak from their home produced cattle, home made pasta - it was one of the best meals of the holiday. The rooms are beautiful with antique furniture and free wifi - and of course the view of the Umbrian hills with no roads, houses or modern trappings in sight.

Lost in nothingThis place is really peaceful. Is in midle of nothinf around 5 km in white street and around 1 km from another house. Fristly I felt not really comfortable but this dont take so long and I understand that we only arrive not in the best moment. After they was so nice and simpatic:-) Room are nice. I really liked the historic bath!:-) Stefano is good cook so his dinner we enjoy so much .Breakfest is little bit poor. Only little things which i didnt like is that they have many animals and many excrement everywhere, which make really bad impresion, specially because was all over the entrance round.
