    Needs a good clean!

    I spent one night here as my flight came in quite late. The staff were very nice - the owner and one more guy who seemed to do everything! The room was ok with a nice big bed. The negatives though were a dirty bathroom and an overpriced, awful breakfast (one egg and some dry toast).

    Great stopover close to the airport!

    Just a few minutes walk from Liyanagemulla train station, this is a perfect stopover before/after a flight. Really easy to get to and they can arrange airport transfers as well. We arrived after an afternoon of sweating it out on the train from Kandy (Kandy to Colombo Fort, Colombo Fort to Liyanagemulla) and it was perfect. Really lovely spacious room with waterfall shower in a big wet room that even had a bidet! After cleaning up we had a few final lion beers on the terrace and some fried rice with salad which was really good. We got a fan room which was a mistake, it's hot inland! Oh, and lots of mozzies but no nets so definitely deet up!

    Excellent service

    It was really pleasure to had a such like friendly hospitality service. My parents and brother stayed on last 18 Jun ( Saturday) and they have really enjoyed the staying at Guest Ryan. Very clean and attractive as well. Wish you all d best to continue this service more over in the future. Really we could recommend this place to anyone.

    Very budget

    We stayed here for one night to be close to the airport for our early departure. It was not a very pleasant experience. The bed was comfortable but the shower was cold, and the shower head is literally over the toilet - you have to straddle the toilet to get wet! The toiletries are a joke. The walls are so thin we were awake all night listening to a man snoring the house down. The internet does not work unless you are at the front desk, we were in a house next door from the actual router so there was no chance. Breakfast was dismal, 1 egg on toast and a bit of papaya. I would not stay here again.

    Try somewhere else

    I can NOT recommend this hotel. I was the ONLY customer in the whole of the guest house and was put in a room with most of the bathroom items broken/working poorly: sink and plug, towel rail, shower-head, erratic hot/cold water. The manager and assistant (whose English is poor) couldnt grasp the idea of checking a room is ready BEFORE the customer arrives. Before leaving, I tried to have a rational conversation with both of them but they simply got angry and wanted their money: 3,800LKR per night excluding food. When I agreed to pay the final bill, the assistant claimed to have no change - a usual trick that 3 wheeler drivers play on tourists. He threatened calling the police when I returned the compliment. A sad end and an excellent way for customers to never, ever, return. The room itself was actually ok and the AC works, but it had a "universal controller" so the only function that work are: on and off. Their approach to customer service is: don't fix anything until the customer tells you they are broken. I tried nicely to get into their heads that this isnt good enough. When I visited the hotel a few days before, to check the rooms, it was claimed that the bathrooms were 5 star hotel standard - lol! Try one of the several OTHER guests houses on the same road.
