  Nos ha costado llegar al hotel, los taxis desde la estacion de tren no sabian donde quedaba.. y era imposible comunicarse con el taxista que logicamente hablaba solo hungaro. El establecimiento es hermosisimo, un bello edificio excelentemente mantenido, tanto las areas comunes como las habitaciones que son enormes , clasicas y distinguidas. El baño totalmente moderno y bien equipado. El desayuno tambien muy variado y de buena calidad. Los jardines que rodean la propiedas son bellisimos. Es una opcion ideal, supongo que la mejor para quenes se alojan en Tokaj

  Super location

  Located in the heart of the Tokaj wine region. This is a place where you can relax and enjoy gourmet food, wine, culture and hiking. The castle hotel is on the outskirts of Tarcal, set in beautiful surroundings. You are in the middle of the vineyards but the hotel has its own park which you see on approaching the hotel. You can take short walks in the garden or walk through the vineyards to the Theresa Chapel were you have great views of the surrounding area. If you enjoy castle accommodation this is the place to go. The rooms are large and have all been restored with antique furniture, up to modern standards with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The Sitting room and library are places to relax and if you decide on a 5 course gourmet dinner with accompanying wine it is possible you will enjoy it in the library with a waiter to cater for all your needs. The food was excellent and the wines were a good choice for the various courses. Breakfast buffet was also very good. All the staff were competent, very friendly and helpful. They also arranged the hotel taxi service which is not expensive and very efficient. In Hungary you are not allowed alcohol when driving so it was ideal when you want to explore the area in the evening and go wine tasting in a different town or wine cellar. Telephone call and they were there in a short time. Great as everybody could enjoy the evening. Highly recommendable.

  Could be a gem in the Tokaj region, but came as a disappointment

  3-nights-stay with the whole family PRO: nice location, impressive estate, delicious high-quality wines, instructive wine tasting, rooms are clean and well-furnished CON: Unfortunately, this company is not a well-managed one. - Hotel + restaurant seem understaffed (room maidens = breakfast waitresses, wine instructor = only dinner waiter, night clerk = after-dinner waiter). - As a result, part of the staff is uninstructed about the procedures and about how to treat guests in a more friendly, open and professional manner (or simply finds no time to act accordingly, with the notable exception of Mr. Béres, who was very helpful), some employees show only little proficiency in English. - One evening, we had a wine dinner. The food was good, but in no way extraordinary. The fish fillet was full of bones, though. The longer the dinner went on, the less frequently our (initially truly attentive) waiter appeared at our table. One of the accompanying wines was brought to us only after explicit request. - We're sorry that we cannot recommend the breakfast at all (seems like bought at a fair rate in the nearby supermarket, not a rich choice, silverware and cups not very clean, poor presentation, some of the food offered was past its expiry date, empty bowls get refilled only hesitantly). There is so much potential to make this a wonderful place. Sadly, the potential is unused.

  Last days of autumn summer

  We had a quick one night stop in the castle hotel and we really enjoyed our stay very clean rooms and nice property treatment.Around the hotel they have a very nice surrounding a very old forest around and its good to have a walk under the old oaks!

  Must try!

  Perfect place to discover the Tokaj region. Nice, clean and very friendly staff. Stay at least 2-3 days to visit all places. The chapel on the top of the hill must be the first. From there you will understand what is the philosophy of the hotel about our heritage in Tokaj.
