Overpriced, property in need of attentionThe location and consequently the view were outstanding. The food was unique, made using with ingredients they harvest in the property, and the attention in the restaurant was incredible too, much like we found everywhere in CR. That is why I give them two stars, and I am pushing it... The room had so many issues: 1) It was NOT clean (the shelves behind the bed and the floor being the two prime examples, although there was a distinct broom and other cleaning utensils sticking out of a vase by the door). 2) The space was super-dark and unwelcoming, accentuated by the dark brown-painted bamboo covered walls, and illuminated all over using white fluorescent lamps. Just changing the bulbs to non-white bulbs would make a huge difference. 3) The curtain rods were hanging by a "thread". When I opened one of the curtains , the wooden rod and curtain fell on me, and hit me in the arm. 4) The property as a whole looked not cared for properly: cracked stairs, terrible signage, poor lighting outside the rooms... And for this we paid what we did for one night? Give me a break! Either they get their act together, or gradually they will lose more business. There's too many great options in the area at that price point.

More bugs inside than outsideBy far the worst place Ive ever spent. Arrived and thought they up graded us from a one bedroom to 2 villa. I think because no one wanted the one we had. Its the one in the photos everywhere. But it started with it being very rustic and out dated. I can live with that. Got a villa so we could cook. Not only did the hot plate not have knobs, you plugged it in and one burner went on. No idea what the temperature was since it was so old and broken. They replaced it after we complained. No wash clothes or hand towels. Complained and said they would be ready in the morning and we could come get them. The refrigerator tilts every time you open it. Because they never bothered to level it. Whole place was dirty. Someones old shampoo sample was in the shower. No soap at all near toilets. Very poor lighting inside and out. But the biggest issue of all- 2nd day- all along the glass doors and up the curtains were these big ant like bugs! Like ingested. We left and had them spray or whatever they did. They said they get them sometimes when it rains. Ugh!! I can handle the lizards and frogs even snakes! But all I could think of is them crawling all over me at night. Did I mention this was in the bedroom. Not even in the kitchen area. Just got back after a nice day out at the hot springs to find them back! Leaving now to go to dinner after we wait for them again to do something. We sprayed them first with natural essential oils because I hate deet. But after that, Raid came out. Now a bunch of dead bugs all over the bedroom floor until they come remedy. No paper towels (because they left us about 10). No kitchen rag, only towels. Just disgusting.

Pretty Bad - Unless you like sleeping with mice!GreenLagoon Arenal Waterfall Villas was probably a very nice place several years ago, however, and Im really not sure if this is due to a management change or what, but it is now pretty bad. My family and I were there on our first rain forest vacation and the first trip to Costa Rica. When we first arrived it was dark and we were very tired, pretty much unpacked and crashed for the night. The next morning we woke up and found that some fruit we had bought was eaten by what appeared to be mice, great!! Next, we notice mice dropping leading to the back patio door and notice that the rear doors are not sealed, I mean at least a 2-3 inch gap on both sides of the sliding doors. At least now we know how they are getting in! It gets better, then when making our bed we notice one of our pillows appeared to be what looks like a mouse hotel, chunks of foam taken out of the pillow, an actual tunnel through the pillow itself, crazy right! I have pictures of all of this however it appears you cannot upload them anywhere. (Uploaded) We went down and spoke to management, very nicely asked for a reduction in the price per night, flat out was told NO, he did offer to take care of a $44.00 dinner, awesome huh, considering we were charged over $300 a night! As you can imagine, the family did not sleep great at all the next 3 nights and our time there was not pleasant. In addition to the rodents, you will find rotten deck boards, large sections of tile missing from the pool, which is freezing and unusable, no cushions for the chairs (like shown in the pictures), etc. If I find a place to upload my pics I will upload them. As you probably can imagine, I would recommend you find somewhere else to stay!

Great at collecting money, terrible at customer serviceWe booked a three bedroom hotel room for our entire family which included two senior citizens. The booking part was easy. When the coronavirus outbreak started, I had to cancel our trip after their cancellation deadline. I've lost count of how many times I contacted the hotel to try and explain our situation -that we have two people in our group in their 70's who would be most at risk if we continued our travel. No one answered the phone. Finally, I emailed the property. They responded back with a vague response about contacting the third party agency through which I booked, which was Orbitz. I contacted Orbitz. Who then contacted the hotel. And eventually Orbitz told me that the hotel cannot offer a refund. I was hoping to get someone on the phone at the property and try and postpone our stay there until later this year, but given the customer service I experienced - I will never stay there and will let my friends and family know not to stay there.
