Good value for a short overnight stay

We just needed a room to bed down for the night before venturing on to Mt Aso and the hot springs and this fitted the bill. The room was small, but adequate and we found amazing food close by. It was good value for the money and easy to get to from the airport.

    Basic, clean & Convenient

I spent one night at this hotel during my two-week stay in Japan. The hotel's biggest asset is it's convenient location on the main street which means it is a few meters away from a tramway stop connecting to the castle, shopping mall and train station. The carefully manicured landscapes of Suizenji Garden are just across the street. The clean rooms are "efficiently spaced" meaning you will have to pack lightly if you want enough walking space around your bed. (I generally found that to be the norm in Japan). The hotel also offers free wifi all throughout the premises. Breakfast is some traditional Japanese fish, eggs, rice, pickles and soup and a generous selection of teas and juices. There was also some bread and jam on offer for those seeking a more international breakfast but I must warn that the "toaster" is a mini-oven meaning it takes a lot longer than the usual minute to warm your toast! Basic, clean and convenient. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about either.

    Friendly and helpful staff

Stayed here for two nights while visiting Kumamoto. Convenient to visit Aso region from here. There's a tram stop directly across the hotel so it's convenient to get to other parts of Kumamoto too. The staff knows little English but they are very willing to help, very impressed with their service. Buffet breakfast was good at a very reasonable price. Room is small but clean with good bath wash and shampoo.

    Anywhere else....

A sad, dirty, uncomfortable place for a stupid price: 140000 yen (about 130 dollars), on Saturday, for a cell that they call double room. Furthermore, you can eat the worst breakfast in all Japan. Please! avoid it!

    A gem among business hotels

First of all, become aquainted with the idea of "business hotel". This is a place to sleep, not to chill in the room. Sleeping areas are smaller than American by a lot. Ours was a mattress on the floor (better than a futon!!) .Bathrooms are also tiny, but very serviceable. Space for luggage is "creative". That said, this is a fantastic business hotel. Our room was clean and bright, with a view of Suizenji Park out the window. The bathroom, though small, had a tub which my wife was overjoyed about (last place didnt have one). Staff does not speak much English, but they bent over backwards trying to help us figure out the AC control. There are onsite washers and dryers along with free wifi. The breakfast was to die for. Typical Japanese cuisine and lots of it. All of it freshly prepared. Well worth the additional cost to the room. Which brings me to the cost. This hotel is priced right. If you are looking for a place to lay your head while exploring Kumamoto and really don't need all the "extras", this is your place.
