Average at bestThe hotel is old which gives it so much character! It was very clean and quiet. We stayed on a Tue. & Wed. Our complaint was the restaurant and bar service. The main restaurant was closed for dinner on those nights so we opted to eat in the Divide lounge which opens at 5 PM. They had a young lady as bartender & server and it was her first night working. The manager stayed with her for about 15 minutes and she was on her own! Eventually, she had 6 tables to serve food and drinks. She did her very best running back and forth. No fault to her. Needless to say, it was a disaster. We waited a very long time for our food and waited again for silverware. I think the server had a meltdown and the cook was running food out. Shame on management for that mess of a situation!! The next morning we went to the dining room for breakfast and same situation. No one ever waited on us!! We left. Unbelievable poor service and totally unorganized. Just to add, the lady that was left on her first night alone in the lounge, didnt return the next night! The manager was working. Dont think wed stay there again.

Character, history, caring staffWe met another couple for the Thanksgiving holiday at the Green Park, our third visit, and it just keeps getting better. First, in reading the reviews below, I echo the sentiments from other TripAdvisors that, as always, much of guests' impressions have to do with expectations. If you're looking for history, character, friendly staff, very good food and an appreciation of the travel experience of days gone by, you'll be among those of us who find this hotel unique, interesting and a charming, fun place to stay. The hotel does a good job of COVID protection (see their website for details). Due to the time of year and the light number of guests, some of the normal amenities were limited, such as hours of dining operation and menu options, but the staff to a person did all they could to ensure an enjoyable stay. Special mention to Heather, who was seemingly everywhere all the time, providing a welcome, friendly experience in the Divide Tavern and the Chestnut Grille alike. The young man at the front desk was patient, accommodating to special requests and the resolution of a couple of guests' inquiries. Unfortunately, the gentleman pianist wasn't able to perform in the lobby, but we hope to see him again post-pandemic. Breakfast is made to order and, in order to ensure social distancing, reservations are required. Thanksgiving dinner was excellent. Menus are posted in this review. The last time we stayed was in March and it seemed that the condition of the hotel pubic areas in particular had been refreshed since then. The room this time included a balcony which, in warmer weather, would fantastic. I took the opportunity to check out the fabled elevator this time, partly because I had overheard a guest ask if it had been fixed since an apparent earlier snag of some kind. The above-mentioned front desk gentleman assured them that it was working. It's large enough to accommodate a luggage trolley, but there was a sign posted requesting only one person at a time board it unless travelling with another person in the same party (due to COVID, not weight). It worked fine for me, although with most elevators of that age, was a little abrupt when it reached the requested floor. I hope that like-minded travelers who are looking for a unique hotel in a scenic part of the country will give the Green Park a visit. Even if you're staying elsewhere in the area, stop in and check it out. You'll get a good feel for the place just by stopping in for a drink or meal, and hopefully, that will entice you to stay longer on a future trip.

Nightmare at the InnService was horrible except for the bartender... it smelled awful. The staff has no personality. So quiet and no atmosphere at all. We had no heat and had to use a portable heater. The power went out in our room. Covid or not it is poorly managed. Restaurant was terrible....I would never go back!!! Save your money!

Needs better managementThe hotel staff was untrained in customer service. Not a welcoming word from anyone with one huge exception. Heather was great. She ran the bar and hosted meals in the dining room. The food was very good, but the wait staff needs training. Heather helped make our stay better. The hotel was not crowded, yet the assigned rooms were bunched together. We could hear people talking in 2-3 rooms.

Old world charm with modern conveniencesMy stay at the Green Park Inn was spectacular-- staff was very attentive and helpful from when I checked in at the front desk to servers in the bar and restaurant. My room had an amazing view-- cozy and clean. Breakfast was not only free with overnight stay (hard to come by in these days!) but also delicious and made to order. Overall I would recommend Green Park Inn to anyone interested in visiting in Blowing Rock. Not sure what these most recent negative reviews are about-- as my stay couldn't have been lovelier. I will certainly be visiting Green Park Inn during my next visit to the High Country.
