  Time for tea

  The entrance to this hotel is beautiful. The hall is lined with antique jade which will take a little while to examine as the carvings are exquisite. You are greeted with a friendly smile and efficiency checked in. The lifts are almost art deco in style and polished to a high finish. My room was wonderful. It had plenty of space for everything the weried traveller needs. Two large chairs in a small vienete, Two double beds, writing desk, and bar/eating area. There is tea and coffee. And if you need anything the staff will be more than happy to get if for you. There have been comments in previous reports about the wifi. Yes it is slow and stop. But there is much more to Shanghai than internet service. Outside of the room there are two large seating areas that also have a fish pond to add to the tranquility of your stay. Its great for meeting fellow business travelers our just to sit whilst contemplating the days events.

  Be careful with your credit card at this hotel

  I booked the hotel thru Hotel Reservation Service and gave my credit card details. Hotel charged my card for 1 night stay. We checked in to the hotel as per booking, at check out made the payment for the bill in full. Later, on receipt of card statement I realized that the hotel has charged me twice, for the full stay as well as the booking amount. I have sent several emails but there is no response from hotel. Highly unprofessional and unethical practice. I had to ask my card issuer to cancel the card to prevent further misuse and take up the matter with the hotel.

  Japanese inspired rooms

  The rooms in this smaller Hotel in the Pudon area are quite nice. Japanese inspired but fairly small. Bathroom very nice, but the room had a strange smell of humidity. The breakfast has only a very small selection of western Food, but a large selection of Chinese breakfast.

  Property is very dated

  Customer service was excellent. Right from reception to housekeeping, the staff was very courteous and helpful. 10 on 10 for service. The property, however, was very dated and is due for renovation. The Hotel lobby was nice although the seating could do with some more comfort. The rooms were very dark. At least the one I was in. They were humid and smelly. Although the aircon had a minimum of 10degrees It barely got down to even 18deg. Bathroom was small and dark too. The views were not fabulous at all. My room was looking into the apartments next door. I must admit however, that there was a bit of a distance. Although I wasn't spending a lot of time in the room it wasn't the perfect place to get back to after a very hectic and stressful day.

  1 night in Shanghai

  My son & I spent 1 night here as we were headed back to U.S. The hotel was nice, neat & clean. Breakfast was included & was very good (included bacon & eggs, coffee & juices. Also included Chinese style foods too).
